BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Womens will hold a bake sale Saturday, March 14, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Citizens on Patrol.
Rosary Crusade
KJZT St. Anne’s Society No. 10, Fayetteville, is coordinating a public square Rosary Crusade in support of traditional marriage. Everyone is invited to join in praying the Rosary at the Fayetteville square at noon on Saturday, March 14.

on Page A2, C3 & C6 The Fayette County Texas Exes will be hosting a supply drive during the month of March to support the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. Please help by donating the following items: bleach, window cleaner, disinfectant wipes, latex gloves, 409/ Lysol disinfectant cleaner, paper towels, 35 gallon trash bags, 55 gallon heavy duty (2 mil) trash bags, puppy pads, copy paper, post-it notes, dry erase markers, and sharpies. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations: Jones Insurance Services and Texas One Stop in La Grange, Round Top Real Estate, Shorty’s in Winchester, Flatonia Baptist Church, Schulenburg Family Fitness Center, Joe’s Place, Orsak’s Café and Vintage Rose Market in Fayetteville.
Fayette Water Supply Board Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet
On Tuesday, March 17, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds; and potential members are invited to attend. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. The Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal at 6 p.m., after which the Post will meet.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Meeting The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner and 2026 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Kevin Laney, owner of Fayette County Outfitters in Flatonia. A business meeting will follow the potluck meal. Members are asked to bring a meat tray, salad, or dessert dish.
Republican Women General Meeting The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, March 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch is available for $20. Program speaker will be Carrie Bigford with Texans for Vaccine Choice. The Fayette County Tax Assessor Collector Office (DMV) will be closed Wednesday, March 18, for a regional meeting and training and will resume normal business hours on Thursday, March 19. Guest Speaker at Library
For our part in Fayette County’s America 250 celebrations, we’ve invited noted Lafayette historian, Alan Hoffman, to travel to La Grange and speak about the contributions of the Marquis de Lafayette during the American Revolution and how that experience shaped his position on the question of slavery. We’re excited to have Alan return for this program about Fayette County’s namesake on Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fayette Public Library’s meeting room.
Food Pantry Thursday Hours The AMEN Food Pantry will be open Thursday, March 19 from 4:30-6 p.m. to distribute food. Monday hours continue to be 9 a.m. - noon.
TLU Spring Choir Tour
The Texas Lutheran University Choir will perform in La Grange Friday, March 20 at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 110 W. Walnut beginning at 7 p.m.
Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund Fish Fry The Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund fish fry will be held Friday, March 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall, drive-thru only. The meal includes fried fish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans, hush puppies and coleslaw. Plates are $15 on a first come, first served basis. All funds benefit the Hostyn/ Plum Scholarship Fund. This will be the last Lenten Fish Fry.
Wine & Wander White Linen Night Enjoy Burton’s Wine & Wander wearing white linen or any other white attire in Historic downtown Burton on Thursday, March 20, from 6-8 p.m., starting at The Texas Cotton Gin Museum. This is a free event. Guests are encouraged to dress in white, wander the town, and celebrate Burton with a touch of New Orleans flair.

Grief Support Group for Loss of a Child Hospice Brazos Valley offers a support group for parents and grandparents who have lost a child who could have been any age and long ago or recent. Native Prairie Grasses Available
The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas is selling 1-gallon pots of native grasses. These can be used to enhance prairie restoration efforts or cultivate beautiful pocket prairies. Available grasses are big and little bluestem, indiangrass, switchgrass, eastern gamagrass, sideoats grama, and inland seaoats. These grasses are tough and beautiful and can survive extreme heat and drought. Order now for pickup in mid-April. For more information, contact fayette@texasprairie.org.
Witness five local actresses portray pivotal characters in aviation and in local business at the Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum on March 21 and 22. The program features three pioneering women in aviation who helped shape the history of flight and two women instrumental to the legacy of the museum and the Stazel Family Foundation. Attendees will be able to engage in conversation, ask questions, and learn about the courage, innovation and leadership it took to change aviation history. Multiple programs will be held each day and will last approximately 30 minutes. A light reception and an opportunity to explore the museum is included. Brenham Chorale Spring Concert
The Brenham Chorale announces its spring concert, being performed on Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. The performance will feature Faure’s “Requiem,” and the choir will be accompanied by harp, organ, and string orchestra. The concert is open to the public and free of charge,with a reception following.The Brenham Chorale is an outstanding 30-member community choir, now in its 15th year, under the direction of Dr. Joanne Clark.
RT-Shelby Hermann Sons Life Meeting
The Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Tuesday, March 24, at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post 338, 1503 N. Hwy. 237, Round Top. A social time will begin at 6 p.m., the meeting is at 6:30 p.m. with a meal following. Benefit For Dusty Veitch
A cancer benefit and auction for Dusty Veitch will be held Saturday, March 28 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Plum Church Dining Hall located at 126 Plum Church Rd. Dusty was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer on Jan. 9.Ameal of fried chicken and sausage, butter onion potatoes, green beans, corn and homemade bread will be served for $15 per plate.
