Zoom Talk

The City of La Grange wishes to inform residents that, beginning Thursday, Feb. 19 the Municipal Court Clerk will move their office from the Police Department to La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado St. Their office can be reached by calling City Hall at (979) 968-5805. While Municipal Court trials will still take place at 243 S. College St. any payments, pleas, or procedural questions should be directed to the Clerk at City Hall.

A Winedale Zoom Talk will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at noon. Dr. Caroline Crimm will discuss via zoom the role Texas cattle played in battles in the south and southeastern territories that benefitted the American revolutionaries. Hermann Sons

Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Lodge 151 will have their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Round Top American Legion Hall in Round Top. Members are asked to bring sandwiches, chips, salads, and/or desserts to share. Social time begins at 6 p.m. with meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Meal follows.

For the Record on Page A2 & A5 The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host Game Day on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. La Grange Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club February meeting will be held Thursday, Feb 26 social at 11:30 a.m. speaker Lessalyn Koehler, owner/herbalist of Rhizome Rival in Bastrop, will begin at 12 noon. Rhizome Rival is a nonprofit that conducts educational programs on herbs, permaculture and homesteading. Please join and enjoy this program and meet neighbors that also enjoy digging in the dirt. La Grange Garden Club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange.

Relay For Life Meeting

Relay For Life of Fayette County will be holding a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Sealand Restaurant beginning at 5:15 p.m. Anyone interested in having a team or being on the committee for this year’s Relay should attend. Relay For Life of Fayette County 2026 will be held on April 18 at Leopard Stadium in La Grange. La Grange KC Fish Fry

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host a drive-thru only Fish Fry Fundraiser Friday, Feb. 27 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will consist of fried fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $15 per plate. The meal is on a first come, first served basis.

Carmine Chamber Mixer

The Carmine Chamber Mixer will be held Friday, Feb. 27 at the Carmine Hall at 6:30 p.m. Citizen, volunteer, and business of the year will be awarded. Enjoy door prizes, a meal and drinks. Come see what being a Carmine Chamber member is all about. RSVP is appreciated by calling (979) 451-1507.

Free Gallery Talk “Art to Art”

The Texas Quilt Museum is proud to welcome Rhonda Masters, Laura Casmore, and Sharon Mooney—founders of the National African American Quilt Guild—as they share insights into their work, their mission, and the stories behind the quilts featured in our exhibition at the Texas Quilt Museum. Presented on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. in celebration of Black History Month, this program offers a meaningful opportunity to connect more deeply with the artists and the heritage they honor. Free admission begins at 2 p.m. Come early to save your seat and explore the new exhibits.

Discover Winedale on the Texas Frontier Join on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. for a hands-on exploration of Winedale’s landscape and history. A member of the Texas Master Naturalists will guide you through the site’s human and natural history, offering a fun and close-up look at what life was like on the Texas frontier. Following the program, the Lewis-Wagner House will be open for tours. Participants should meet in the events parking lot near the Theater Barn. This program is free, and no registration is required.

Independence Day Garbage Schedule La Grange City offices will be closed Monday, March 2, in observance of Texas Independence Day. Texas Independence Day Celebration The Town of Round Top is pleased to announce a celebration in honor of Texas Independence Day. Please join us as we commemorate the rich history and spirit of Texas at 11a.m. on March 2 on the Round Top Square. The event will feature prayer, pledges, speeches, historical flag display and the firing of the historic Round Top cannon. Everyone is welcome to participate in this special occasion. Come together with friends, family, and fellow Texans to celebrate the legacy of independence and pride. Mark your calendars.

Food Handlers’ Workshop

A two-hour food handlers workshop will be held on Monday, March 9 at the Fayette Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, Room 104 in La Grange. This course is accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER) state that “all food employees must complete an accredited food handler training course within 30 days of employment.” Food employees must also keep their food handler’s card updated. The cost of the class is $20 and participants need to pre-register at least two days in advance. All are invited to make a wish and release a live butterfly in the Texas Quilt Museum Grandmother’s Flower Garden at the 3rd Annual Butterfly Jubilee on Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The celebration will feature a full slate of activities, including the “Airing of the Quilts,” live music, delicious food, face painting, craft booths, the “Plant-a-Memory” gardening adventure, and the “My Favorite Quilt” family activity. Guests can also enjoy a visit with The Great Story Fairy and stop by the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s Adopt-a-Pet “Snuggle Station” or the MKT Railroad Museum, along with plenty of shopping and additional family fun. This family-friendly event is mostly free to attend. Texas Heroes Museum Exhibit

Visit the Texas Heroes Museum to see the latest displays, a McClellan Saddle adopted by the Army in 1859, and an Englishstyle saddle adopted prior to World War I for officers. These saddles were used by the Cavalry until late in WWII.
