BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Womens a bake sale Saturday, Feb. 14 from 10:30 a.m - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken $6 and sausage link $7 drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Turtle Wing Foundation.

The Carmine Cemetery Association has rescheduled its annual meeting on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 11:15 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. All members and interested persons are encouraged to attend

Soup Social

Fayette County Czech Heritage Society new date for the annual Soup Social is Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at TCHCC in La Grange. Members are asked to bring a big pot of their favorite soup or a few sandwiches or dessert to share. New potential members and/or guests are always welcome. Vítáme Vás!

Fried Chicken

The Industry Knights of Columbus will have its annual fried chicken fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. Dine in or plates to go will be available. The meal consist of hand breaded fried 1/2 chicken, homemade buttered noodles, and beans for a $15 donation. Enjoy a silent and live auction.

He is best known as the founder of the book superstore, Bookstop. He also served on the board of Whole Foods and was the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin. Gary will present the fascinating story of the American automobile industry on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Fayetteville Community Center on the square at 107 W. Fayette St. Beverages will be served. Free to all. It is a fast-moving, highly visual presentation on this important industry that became such an integral part of our lives. VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairground; and potential members are invited to attend. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Information about celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary will be shared.

Hostyn CDA Chicken Fried Chicken The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary will hold a drive-thru fundraiser and bake sale at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 4-6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried chicken breast, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, roll, and white gravy (on the side) for $14 a plate. Ash Wednesday Service in Round Top The popular Music and Meditations Ash Wednesday service returns this year at Saint Cecilia’s Episcopal Church in Round Top on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5:45 p.m. The meditative, reflective service weaves music and spoken reflections together as a centering opening to the holy season of Lent. United Evangelical Lutheran Church at Swiss Alp meets Wednesdays at 6 p.m. during Lent for a soup and sandwich meal followed by an evening prayer service at 7 p.m. This starts on Ash Wednesday and the service following the meal with have imposition of ashes. Join Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday; Feb. 25, March 4, 11 and 18, Youth Group hosts; and March 25. The Swiss Alp Lutheran Heritage Foundation Board hosts a barbecue meal and all the trimmings for the final Wednesday meal. March 29, Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion is celebrated with procession with Palms and a narrative reading of the Passion. Holy Week: celebrate Maundy Thursday on April 2 with 6 p.m. worship; April 3, Good Friday, Swiss Alp hosts the Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance Community Service at noon with a fellowship meal to follow; April 5, Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. Youth Easter Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt follows, with an Easter Sunday service at 9:15 a.m. All are invited to join for these worship and fellowship occasions.

La Grange Elementary Book Fair

The La Grange Elementary School Book Fair is returning from Feb. 17-23. We’ll kick off the event with Story Book Night on Feb. 17 starting at 4:30 p.m. with the book fair open until 6:30 p.m. Then everyone is invited to browse and shop during “After-School Shopping Hours” on Feb. 18-23 from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m. This time is perfect for adults, with or without children, to explore the selections. Want to give back directly to students? Teachers have curated classroom wish lists of books they hope to add to their shelves. Visitors can select and purchase these specific titles during the fair to be donated directly to LES classrooms.

La Grange KC Fish Fry

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host a drive-thru only Fish Fry Fundraiser Friday, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will consist of fried fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $15 per plate. The meal is on a first come, first served basis.

Dinner and Show, The Dumb Waiter

Join the Fayette County Community Theatre for their first 2026 Dinner and a Show Event, Feb. 20-21 featuring The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter. This two-night event at the Fair Pavilion (Round Up Hall) features dinner provided by Garrett Cooks, and a play featuring the voted Best Actors in Fayette County Blake Harbers and Scott Toensing. Colorado Valley ICA’s Annual Fundraiser The Colorado Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas annual fundraiser is Saturday, Feb. 21. Admittance includes barbecue meal and beverages. Native Plants Society

Live Oak Chapter of the Native Plants Society of Texas (NPSOT) representing Colorado, Fayette, and Lavaca Counties will have their first meeting Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. The location is still pending the weather forecast as the date approaches. KC BBQ Sunday

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host their KC BBQ Sunday, Feb. 22. BBQ chicken and sausage to-go (drive-thru) will be available from 10:30 a.m to 12 noon at the KC Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. La Grange Community Blood Drive A La Grange Community Blood Drive will be held at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. This is a date change from Feb. 18. When you donate you receive a free box of Girl Scout cookies. The scholarship requires an applicant to be a resident of Fayette County, have attended high school in Fayette County, have made application to Texas A&M, and be a full-time student. Applications for the scholarship can be obtained in the high school counselor’s office. Applications must be completed and turned into their counselor or mailed no later than March 1.
