BBQ & Bake Sale

Come for a free movie, hot dogs, popcorn and drinks beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the first Summer Movie Night Friday, June 7 at New Life Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, La Grange. Other movie nights include: June 21 and July 12 in the Fellowship Hall. The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale Saturday, June 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe S.t across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of The Bugle Boy Foundation.

Cartons Needed

AMEN Food Pantry needs egg cartons (12 pack only). Please bring on Monday morning between 9 a.m. and noon or Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon. Please do not leave at the door.

Networking Wednesday

A free networking class will be held Wednesday, June 5 from 10-11 a.m. at the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 220 W. Colorado St. La Grange. The guest speaker is from the Fayette County Farm Bureau.

City of La Grange Facility Closures

Notice of City of La Grange Facility Closures Thursday, June 6, from 4-5 p.m. Facilities included in closure for staff development are: City Hall, La Grange Utilities, Historic Casino Hall, Fayette Public Library, Randolph Recreation Center, La Grange Police Department Administration, and the City Warehouse. American Legion Quade-Werchan

The next regular meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. Prior to the meeting American flags that have become worn and collected over the past year will be disposed of in accordance with the procedures of the American Legion. The post will then honor the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a catered meal beginning at 5:45 p.m. Members are encouraged to make a meal reservation. The meeting for July will be held on Thursday, July 11 as the post normal meeting falls on the first Thursday of the month, July 4, Independence Day. For the month of August, the post and auxiliary will meet on Thursday, Aug. 1. All post and auxiliary members are requested to attend their respective meetings.

Kolache Klobase Festival

Riverside Hall in East Bernard will have music, food and lots of Kolaches on Saturday, June 8 with arts and crafts, cake walk, silent auction and much more. Sausage barbecue chicken plate lunch available for purchase at 11 a.m. Drive thru plates to go from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entertainment includes the Dujka Brothers, Red Ravens, Ennis Czech Boys and many more. A Pre-Juneteenth Celebration will be held Saturday, June 8 on the Fayette County Courthouse Square in La Grange beginning at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Enjoy speakers, Gospel singers and a youth fashion show. Texas Festival Orchestra

The Texas Festival Orchestra season Opening Concert will be held Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, 248 Jaster Rd., Round Top. Tickets are $45 for adults and $10 for students. The concert will be performed by James Dick, piano, Robert Spano, conductor, Texas Festival Orchestra: Witold Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra, Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, Igor Stravinsky’s Suite fromThe Firebird.

Opening Chamber Music Concert

The Round Top Festival Opening Chamber Music Concert will be held Saturday, June 8 at 3:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, 248 Jaster Rd., Round Top. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. The concert will be performed by Festival Institute Faculty: Heinrich Hofmann’s Serenade for Flute and String Quintet, Op. 65, Florence Price’s String Quartet No. 2 inAminor.

Florida Chapel Cemetery Meeting The Florida Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at the Muesse Chapel. Meeting is open to the public. Election of officers will be held. Encourage people to attend to help in preserving and maintaining the cemetery. Ledbetter Annual Homecoming

The Ledbetter Annual Homecoming will be held Sunday, June 9 at Ledbetter Fireman’s Park in Ledbetter. Decoration of Graves begins at 9:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 10 a.m. at Ledbetter Cemetery. A meal of fried fish, beans, coleslaw and hush puppies will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $15 a plate. Bingo will be played from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle tickets can be purchased from members of the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. A Country Store and desserts will be available and sold by the Ledbetter Homemakers Club. This event is sponsored by the The Ledbetter VFD, The Ledbetter Homemakers Club and The Ledbetter Cemetery Association.

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’Association will meet on Monday, June 10, at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia. Lunch (self-pay) will be at 11:30 a.m. with the officer installation at 1:30 p.m. Gene Stokes (outgoing District 13 President) and Joe Ramirez (incoming District 13 President) will be present.

Meet Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner Kolt from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. They will be at the courtroom behind the La Grange Police Department located at 243 S. College on June 11, at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the La Grange Citizens Police. You are welcome to stay for the La Grange Citizens Police meeting afterwards at 6:30 p.m.

Czech Heritage Society Meeting

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society will host its annual Picnic, with a meeting to follow, on Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. at TCHCC in La Grange. The high school scholarship recipient and the Fayette CHS Queen and Little Princess will also attend. There will be accordion music, Czech-English bingo, food, and a silent auction.
