Caladium Bulb Sale
The La Grange Garden Club is having their annual bulb sale on April 11 and April 12 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Faison House located at 822 S. Jefferson in La Grange. Bulbs are prepackaged ($6 for package of 3 bulbs). Preordering is available, call Pennie at (713) 254-1132 or Jeanette at (979) 968-3829. Pre-orders must be picked up at sale during sale hours. A variety of other plants will also be available. Come early to be sure to get your favorite colors. Caladiums will brighten your garden for you to enjoy all summer long.
Plant Sale
The Bluebonnet Master Gardener annual plant sale will be held Saturday, April 13 at Levine Park Pavilion in Sealy. The plant sale starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. or when sold out. Proceeds go towards supporting the four counties (Austin, Colorado, Fayette, and Washington) with graduating high school senior scholarships each year, community gardens, free-tothe public “Lunch-N-Learns”, and other local activities.
Farmers Market
The Winchester Farmers Market will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. till noon on Saturday, April 13. All vendors are welcome and can sign in on site. The Market is held at Zilss Hall on the corner of Memorial St. and Hwy. 153.

on Page A2, B4 & C6 The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Citizens on Patrol.
Bingo in Ledbetter
Bingo for seniors (60 and older plus guests) at the Ledbetter Community Center will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks will be available for a free will donation.
Hermann Sons Life Meeting
Hermann Sons Life of Shelby will meet on Sunday, April 14 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 5 p.m. Members are asked to bring a snack or dessert.
Community League Baseball Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Spring Cleanup Week The City of La Grange has designated April 15-19 as Spring Cleanup Week. The city will pick up one free load of brush during this week. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, separate them from the branches. Also, make sure there is no trash mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: April 15-16, south side of the city (Travis St. - Hwy. 71 Bus.); April 17-18, north side of the city. The city will also have roll off containers available to residential utility customers for hard to dispose of items. These containers will be located at the City Service Center inside the yard and customers will have to show their utility bill receipt to be able to discard their items. These containers will be available Monday-Thursday, April 22-25, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m and on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. No tires, batteries, construction debris, paint or chemicals will be accepted. Only one set of mattresses per utility bill will be accepted. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units must be tagged certifying that the refrigerant has been removed by a certified technician. VFW Post 5254, Auxiliary to Meet Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet Tuesday, April 16, in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The VFW Auxiliary will meet at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Post and Auxiliary will hear guest speaker, Fayette County Precinct 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom, after which there will be a light meal, and then the VFW Post will meet. Both the Post and Auxiliary will be having officer elections. Potential members are invited to attend.
Fayette County Republican Women The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 17, at Frisch Auf! Mark your calendars! The Fayette Public Library is partnering with the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists to bring you a library after-school butterfly lesson. Kids in grades 3rd-6th are invited to participate in this exciting and hands-on lesson to learn all about pollinator plants, the environment, butterflies, and more. The All-A-Flutter Butterfly Class will take place in the library butterfly garden on Wednesday, April 17, from 4-5 p.m. No materials are needed. Texas Women’s Membership Drive The Texas Women’s League (TWL) is hosting a membership drive and TWL board alumni social on Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. Bring a friend and come learn all about Texas Women’s League and the impact that it makes on Fayette County at the Texas Women’s League House at 159 Fannin St. in La Grange. The La Grange Baseball Association 17th annual drive-thru barbecue pork dinner fundraiser will be held Thursday, April 18 at the La Grange KC Hall, 190 S. Brown in La Grange, from 4:30-6 p.m. The meal is $14 a plate. Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the ball park at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. La Grange Relay for Life
On Saturday, April 20, the local Relay For Life walk will take place on the square in La Grange, from 6-8:30 p.m. Team members have been raising funds to support the American Cancer Society, to make a difference. Come out to view the luminaries that have been purchased and created to honor and remember those who have had to deal with cancer in their life. Sadly, many have lost their battle with cancer, while others continue to “fight the fight”. Grab a friend and stop by anytime; come when you want and stay as long as you like! Sensitive Document Shred Event
The City of La Grange, the La Grange Police Department, and Citizens on Patrol invite La Grange Utilities customers to a free Sensitive Document Shred Event on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Mobile, on-site document shredding ensures discarded personal information is protected from unauthorized use, eliminating the opportunity for fraud and/or identity theft. Bring your sensitive documents related to taxes, payroll, human resources, medical records, legal matters, etc. to the LGPD at 243 S. College St. for destruction between 9 a.m. and noon. Items with staples, paperclips, and binder clips are accepted. Items not accepted are cardboard, floppy and hard disks, CDs, DVDs, and USB drives. Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, April 20 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy clean reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.
Library Annual Book Sale
A $5 donation gives you early access to the Fayette Public Library annual book sale on Thursday, April 25 from 4-6 p.m. Starting Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28, the book sale will be open to the public during regular library hours. Wildlife Management Co-op Meeting The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Co-op is having their annual spring meeting on April 27, at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall in Round Top. Social begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting starts at 5 p.m. with a meal to follow. There will be multiple speakers giving informative programs, door prizes, and a bucket raffle. Ellinger VFD Fundraiser Barbecue The Ellinger Volunteer Firemen’s Feast barbecue fundraiser will be held Sunday, April 28 at the Ellinger C of C Hall. Serving starts at 11 a.m. and drive-thru plates begin at 10:30 a.m. Chicken and sausage dinner with all the trimmings is $15. Barbecue chicken will be sold to go at the pits for $12 per chicken. Auction begins at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase new equipment.
The Muldoon VFD will have its annual fundraiser and open house on April 20. We welcome the public from 10am-2pm with hamburgers, hotdogs and chips served, starting at 11:30. Guests are asked to bring a dessert. Water and tea will be provided. There will be a silent, live auction as well as 50/50 drawings. Auction items can be dropped off at the Muldoon Station April 19th or by contacting Chief Stephen Kelly at 512-914-6021.
