Join for Adult Technology Training at the Fayette County Library in La Grange on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. The Bishop Forest Memorial Museum in Schulenburg will have its doors open Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to welcome all visitors, especially the Bishop Forest Class of 1974. The museum is located within the structure previously known as Bishop Forest High School from 1955 to 1989 located at 100 Ranger Drive. The campus is now Blinn College and continues the education process.
Garden Tour

There’s more Join the Flatonia Rail Museum this Saturday, April 6 at the Tommy Shults Pavilion for its annual Railfan Party. All train enthusiasts are welcome! Come watch and talk all about trains! The pavilion is located about 1/2 mile west of downtown at the junction of the Union Pacific. The pavilion is always open, handicap accessible, and covered, making it an excellent spot to watch trains no matter the weather. Come as early and stay as long as you would like to. There will be fresh coffee and donuts ready at the pavilion by 8 a.m. Please bring your chairs, cameras and laptops to capture all the train action. The pavilion is equipped with power outlets. Several raffle prizes will also be given out.
Teens in the Kitchen
Do you love to cook, or would you like to learn the basics? The Fayette Public Library is partnering with the Central Texas Food Bank to bring you Teens in the Kitchen on Tuesday, April 9, from 4:30-6 p.m. This class will introduce participants to nutrition, safety in the kitchen, and cooking. All teens will receive a recipe and prepare a delicious dish under the instruction of a nutritionist. This class is open to ten teens ages 11-18, and participants must register in advance. American Legion, Auxiliary Post No. 102
TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator, Angela Hahn will be the guest speaker who will present a program to both the Post and the Auxiliary members jointly. Following the program, a light meal will be served. The Post and Auxiliary will then continue their regular monthly business meeting.The Post will hold their officers’ election, while the Auxiliary will discuss their donations to the Michael DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston. Members are encouraged to attend. Potential new members are always welcome.
The Chosen
A new episode of Season 4 of the award-winning series “The Chosen” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at the La Grange Church of Christ, 646 E. Hwy. 71. Until now it has been available only in theatrical release. Come early for a meal at 6 p.m. No cost for the meal or show.
Caladium Bulb Sale
The La Grange Garden Club is having their annual bulb sale on April 11 and April 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. at the Faison House located at 822 S. Jefferson in La Grange. Caladiums for the sun and for the shade in lots of colors. Come early, to make sure to get your favorite. Caladiums will brighten your garden and you will enjoy them all summer. A variety of other plants will also be available.
American Legion Quade Werchan The next regular meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, April 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. While the post normally meets on the first Thursday of the month, this change in meeting date is due to the close out of the Spring 2024 Antiques Show by vendors on the site. For the meetings in May 2024, the post and auxiliary will meet on Thursday, May 2. All post and auxiliary members are requested to attend their respective meetings.
Texas Women’s Membership Drive The Texas Women’s League (TWL) is hosting a membership drive and TWL board alumni social on Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. Bring a friend and come learn all about Texas Women’s League and the impact that it makes on Fayette County at the Texas Women’s League House at 159 Fannin St. in La Grange. TWL also looks forward to hosting this membership drive as a social and invites all previous board members to join. Hopefully you can catch up with old friends.
