St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Weimar is accepting applications for the 2023-24 Fayette County graduating seniors for the three following scholarships: The Willie L. Scott Leadership Award Memorial Scholarship, The James W. Carlton CommunityMemorial Scholarship, and the Brandon Bruce Hutchison Outreach Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship’s offer up to a one-time $500 award for each deserving high school seniors living in the Fayette County area. Applications being accepted beginning March 15 through April 15. German Society
The Fayette County chapter of the Texas German Society will meet on Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m. at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives. Roxanne Johnson will be the presenter. After the presentation, join the chapter for dinner at Ere’s Italian Restaurant in La Grange.
Egg Hunt Saturday
Fayetteville is planning an Easter egg hunt for the Kids on the square on Saturday, March 23 at 9 a.m. Donations of candy or toy filled plastic eggs, donuts, baked goods for a bake sale, water bottles, or monetary donations are greatly appreciated. For the Record on Page A2 & C4 The Fayette County Republican Party will conduct all precinct conventions and the county convention on Saturday, March 23, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension building located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. Anyone who voted in the March 5, 2024 Republican Primary or is willing to sign an oath of affiliation to the Republican party is welcome to attend. If you want to be a delegate or alternate at the state convention, you must first attend your precinct and county conventions to be elected. Another function of these precinct and county conventions is to present and discuss resolutions which our county may want to submit to the State convention for consideration. Czech Heritage Society Special Meeting
The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society will have a special meeting on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at TCHCC Hanslik Hall. The queen and little princess candidates that are planning to represent Fayette CHS at the CHS Miss Texas Czech-Slovak and Youth Royalty Pageant this summer will be introduced and crowned. Barbara Ortwein, author of “A Summer in Spillville in 1893” will discuss her historical novel about Composer Antonin Dvorak. Please bring finger food or dessert to share at the reception afterwards. Guests are welcome.
Holy Week Services NewLife Methodist New Life Methodist Church will be holding Holy Week services and an Easter egg hunt as follows: Palm Sunday, March 24, 9 a.m. fellowship time with coffee and snacks; 9:45 a.m. Worship including a palm and musical instrument processional for adults and children; Good Friday, March 29, 6 p.m. service and Easter Sunday, March 31, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services with fellowship time and an Easter egg hunt for the kids between services. The Methodist Men will also have leftovers from the previous day’s barbecue stand at Blue Hills during the Antique Fair for sale in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2 Open House Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Jamie Moreau would like to invite Fayette County out for an evening of community and music, in partnership with the Fayetteville Courthouse Music Series. Join on Tuesday, March 26 from 5-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Guests are invited to come see the office, meet staff, and stay on the square to enjoy the talent of musician, Alex Meixner. Music starts at 6 p.m. and the event is free. La Grange Garden Club Guest Speaker Brianne Bernsen of Plum Fabulous Foods will be the guest speaker at the La Grange Garden Club meeting Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m. Plum Fabulous Foods is dedicated to service and education in organic gardening and family farming of healthy food. Election of La Grange Garden Club officers will also take place at this meeting. The community is always invited to attend the informative presentations of the Garden Club’s meeting. The La Grange Garden Club meets at the Randolf Recreation Center, 653 Pearl St. La Grange, at 2 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month. Come early and enjoy meeting other local gardening lovers.
Good Friday Church Service
The Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance community Good Friday service will be held at First Methodist Church, 209 N. Upton Ave., Schulenburg, on March 29 at noon. Pastor Lemae Higgs of Swiss Alp Lutheran Church will preach. A light meal will follow. A free will offering to support the work of the Ministerial Alliance will be taken.

The Moulton Easter Picnic will be held Easter Sunday, March 31 at St. Joseph’s Social Center with Mass at 10 a.m. then an Easter egg hunt. A fried chicken dinner for $14 per plate begins at 10:30 a.m. Dine in or drive-thru. The live auction begins at 1 p.m. Enjoy live music with Ken Brothers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Fender Bender Band from 1:30-6 p.m. Enjoy a cake walk, plant walk, and a country store.

Turtle Wing Foundation has been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education and Advocacy programming to children and families with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs since 2012. 100 Sporting Clay Tournament

Chicken Spaghetti Fundraiser
Habitat for Humanity and Jill Stueber are having a chicken spaghetti fundraiser. A 9x13 casserole for $40 and 8x5 casserole for $15.
