The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20, at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check. A short business meeting will commence at 11:15 a.m. followed by speaker, former state Senator Ms. Konni Burton, CEO of The Texan. The Texan is a statewide political news organization, founded in 2019 by Konni Burton and based in Austin. Dedicated to providing readers with factbased news regarding issues, policies, elected officials, and campaigns, The Texan is the alternative to the narratives and spin that are so pervasive in news media today. The Rotary Club of La Grange will partner with Mac’s Daqs on Thursday, March 21 from 5-7 p.m. for a fundraiser to help those affected by the wildfires in the panhandle. “Rotary Responds: Texans helping Texans” will feature specialty cocktails and a raffle. Join for this special event.

 Our county historical commission’s purpose is to identify and document local historical sites, persons and occurrences; attempt to preserve those sites that are endangered; and to promote local history. Our meetings are open to the public. The next meeting is March 18, 2024 at the Texas AgriLife Building 255 Svoboda Ln # 134, La Grange. We will have our annual potluck dinner starting at 6:00pm, with a quick meeting so that we can enjoy hearing from our own David Collins about his new book “African Americans of Round Top” part of the Images of America series published by Arcadia Publishing.

Parkinson’s Support Group

The Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. The usual meeting place is in the Randolph Recreation Center on Pearl St. in La Grange. Discussions range throughout the spectrum of Parkinson’s, each member sharing personal experiences with symptoms or side effects of drugs. Anyone wanting more information may call (832) 561-1447. Texas German Society Meeting

The Fayette County chapter of the Texas German Society will meet on Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m. at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives. Roxanne Johnson will be the presenter. After the presentation, join for dinner at Ere’s Italian Restaurant in La Grange.

FCCT Resumes Open Mic Events

Fayette County Community Theatre will resume Open Mic Night events the third Thursday of each month through the fall. March’s event will take place Thursday, March 21 at the FCCT Box Office and Studio Space at 120 S. Washington St in La Grange from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring musical, theatrical, or comedic talents, or just enjoy the talents of others.

Democratic Neighbors Luncheon

Republican Party Convention

Fayette County Republican Party will conduct all precinct conventions and our county convention on Saturday, March 23, 2024, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the TX A&M Agrilife Extension building located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. Anyone who voted in the March 5, 2024 Republican Primary or is willing to sign an oath of affiliation to the Republican party is welcome to attend. If you want to be a delegate or alternate at the state convention, you MUST first attend your precinct and county conventions to be elected. Another function of these precinct and county conventions is to present and discuss resolutions which our county may want to submit to the State convention for consideration. If you have an issue that you feel strongly about, involving legislation or RPT rules or priorities, bring a resolution to your precinct convention. Holy Week Worship

St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 110 W. Walnut in La Grange, invites everyone to join for Holy Week worship services: Palm Sunday, March, 24: Worship with Palms Procession at 9 a.m. followed by coffee time and then adult education at 10:30 a.m.; Maundy Thursday, March 28: Worship at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Easter Sunday, March 31: Resurrection Day Worship at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. with egg hunt for the children between the two services. All are welcome.

Czech Heritage Society Special Meeting The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society will have a special meeting on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at TCHCC Hanslik Hall. The queen and little princess candidates that are planning to represent Fayette CHS at the CHS Miss Texas Czech-Slovak and Youth Royalty Pageant this summer will be introduced and crowned. Barbara Ortwein, author of A Summer in Spillville in 1893 will discuss her historical novel about Composer Antonin Dvorak. Please bring finger food or dessert to share at the reception afterwards. Guests are welcome.

CDA No. 1962 Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No.1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, March 25 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome.

St. James Episcopal Church welcomes everyone on our walk through Holy Week with Jesus. March 24: Palm Sunday, 8 a.m.Rite I, 10:30 Rite II with liturgy of the palms and passion narrative, and Eucharist. Wednesday, March 27: 5:30 p.m. Eucharist with healing liturgy and homily. Maundy Thursday, March 28, 5:30. Good Friday, March 29, 12 noon, reading of the passion narrative. No Saturday services. Easter day, Sunday, March 31: Alleluia! LG Chamber Online Cake Auction

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce annual Facebook Online Cake Auction will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10% of proceeds will be donated to the La Grange Leo Club. Moulton Easter Picnic

The Moulton Easter Picnic will be held Easter Sunday, March 31 at St. Joseph’s Social Center with Mass at 10 a.m. then an Easter egg hunt. A fried chicken dinner for $14 per plate begins at 10:30 a.m. Dine in or drive-thru. The live auction begins at 1 p.m. Enjoy live music with Ken Brothers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Fender Bender Band from 1:30-6 p.m. Enjoy a cake walk, plant walk, and a country store.

La Grange Band Booster Club Meal The La Grange Band Booster Club fall meal will be held Thursday, April 4 from 4:40-6:30 p.m. Beef tips with buttered noodles, corn, green beans, roll and banana pudding will be served for $12 a plate, drive-thru only at the La Grange High School Cafeteria. The meal will be prepared by Koopmann Catering.
