Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Weimar is accepting applications for the 202324 Fayette County graduating seniors for the three following scholarships: The Willie L. Scott Leadership Award Memorial Scholarship, The James W. Carlton Community Memorial Scholarship, and the Brandon Bruce Hutchison Outreach Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship’s offer up to a one-time $500 award for each deserving high school senior living in the Fayette County area. Applications being accepted beginning March 15 through April 15. Turkey Stew
The Shelby American Legion Post 602 will host their annual original hand made Shelby turkey stew fundraiser Saturday, March 16 beginning at 2 p.m. at the 4019 FM 1457 in Shelby. Bring your own containers. Stew is $35 a gallon. Come early and get some desserts too from the Auxiliary Unit 602 bake sale.

VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet The Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet on Tuesday, March 19, in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Post and Auxiliary will hear a guest speaker, after which there will be a light meal and then the VFW Post will meet. Potential members are invited to attend.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau potluck dinner and 2024 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19, at theAmerican Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Geneva Titus, Flatonia Police Investigator and also serves as the FISD School Resource Officer. A business meeting will follow the meal. Members are asked to bring a food dish or a dessert; guests welcome.

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20, at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check. A short business meeting will commence at 11:15 a.m. followed by speaker, former state Senator Ms. Konni Burton, CEO of The Texan. Parkinson’s Support Group
The Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. The usual meeting place is in the Randolph Recreation Center on Pearl St. in La Grange. FCCT Resumes Open Mic Events
Fayette County Community Theatre will resume Open Mic Night events the third Thursday of each month through the fall. March’s event will take place Thursday, March 21 at the FCCT Box Office and Studio Space at 120 S. Washington St in La Grange from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring musical, theatrical, or comedic talents, or just enjoy the talents of others.
