BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale Saturday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Turtle Wing Foundation.

Bingo For Seniors

Bingo for seniors 60 and older plus guests at the Ledbetter Community Center will be held Sunday, March 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. Money collected will be used for purchase of prizes and other expenses.

Richter’s Cemetery

The Richter’s Cemetery Association bi-annual meeting will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. Anyone with an interest in the cemetery is invited to attend.

For the Record on Page A2 & D3 FCCT will hold auditions for a production of the play Clue on Stage, Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater at 250 W. Fayette County Libertarian Party

Tired of taxes? Overlords telling you what to do? And the Republican- Democrat duopoly chipping away your rights? Consider joining the Fayette County Libertarian Party. FCLP will hold joint precinct conventions on March 12 at 6 p.m. at La Grange City Hall, located at 155 E. Colorado St. The county convention will take place on March 16 from 2-3 p.m. at La Grange City Hall. You cannot have vote in the Republican or Democratic Primary Elections if you wish to participate in the precinct or county conventions, but FCLP invites everyone to attend and learn about this process and the party’s platform. Members will select delegates to represent Fayette County at the Libertarian Party of Texas State Convention on April 12-14 in Corpus Christi.

American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting

The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 13, at 6 p.m at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. EMS Director Josh Vandever will be the guest speaker who will present a program to both the Post and the Auxiliary members jointly. Following the program, a meal and a birthday cake will be served to celebrate the American Legion Veterans Service Organizations’ 105th Birthday. The first American Legion caucus convened in Paris, France on March 15, 1919. The Post and Auxiliary will then continue their regular monthly business meeting. Members are encouraged to attend, and potential new members are always welcome.

Sages and Saints Guest Speaker 

Sages and Saints will host a guest speaker Thursday, March 14 at the New Life Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden beginning at 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. William Watson, Ph.D. Bring your favorite dessert, soup and sandwiches will be provided.

Rosary Crusade in Fayetteville

St. Anne Society No. 10 KJZT of Fayetteville is sponsoring the 2024 Public Square Rosary Crusade in the support of traditional marriage. Everyone is invited to join in prayer for our nation at noon on Saturday, March 16 at the gazebo on the Fayetteville square. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs. Food Bank Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM2145 on Saturday, March 16, from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy clean reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau potluck dinner and 2024 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19, at theAmerican Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Geneva Titus, Flatonia Police Investigator and also serves as the FISD School Resource Officer. A business meeting will follow the meal. Members are asked to bring a food dish or a dessert; guests are welcome.

LHS Graduation Fundraiser Meal

The La Grange High School graduation fundraiser drive thru meal will be held Thursday, March 21. The drive-thru meal begins at 4:30-6:30 p.m. at La Grange High School. Cost is $15 per plate. Meal includes a chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans with bacon, roll, and banana pudding. The meal will be catered by Koopmann Catering. Tickets can be purchased at the LHS front office through Friday, March 8.

Widowed Spouses Support Group Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

La Grange Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club is proud to have joined with the Texas Quilt Museum to keep Grandmothers Garden beautiful. The Garden Club’s first workday was one of cleaning out to get ready for the planting of spring flowers. The members are excited to be a major part in reading the garden for the Museum’s upcoming Butterfly Jubilee, June 1. Visit and enjoy nature’s beauty.

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Parkinson’s Support Group

For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers.
