BBQ Dinner

A barbecue and sausage dinner benefiting Remidios Por Christo Church on Saruday, March 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drive-thru or pick up at 121 S. College St. in La Grange. Plates are $15 and will include brisket, sausage, potato salad, green beens, and all the trimmings. For more information, call David Silva at (979) 702-3233.

Fish Fry Fundraiser

The Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund Fish Fry will be held Friday, March 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal is drive-thru only. The meal includes fried fish and hush puppies, buttered potatoes, pinto beans, and coleslaw. Plates are $14. Meal is on a first come, first served basis. All funds benefit the Hostyn/ Plum Scholarship Fund.

Adult Tech Training

Join the Fayette Public Library for Adult Technology Training in La Grange on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. If your computer is giving you problems, bring it along. Eight seats are available. Registration is required. Call (979) 968-3765 to sign up.

There’s more The Sealy Lions Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, March 2, at the Sealy American Legion Hall. The band, Liberty Hill, will be providing live music from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Muldoon Museum Hours

The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by to learn more about the community’s history.

Book Signing at the Depot

Friends of the La Grange Railroad Museum will host a booksigning on Saturday, March 2 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Depot Museum. Texas railroad historian Ken E. Stavinoha will be at the depot, 260 N. Washington St., to sign copies of his book, “Their Rails Crossed at Wallis.” This 212-page volume tells the history of the two railroad lines that crossed at Wallis in 1887, along with their history and their effects on the town. Stavinoha is a historian and preservationist and many of his artifacts are on display at the Eagle Lake Depot Museum. The public is invited, and admission is free.

Tannich-Brovec Family Reunion

The 56th Tannich-Brovec family reunion will be held Sunday, March 3 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall off FM 155 at 1020 N. Center St. in Weimar. Bring a covered dish, meat, vegetable, salad and or dessert and serving spoons. Tea, coffee and bread will be furnished.

All Sports Booster Club

The La Grange All Sports Booster Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the La Grange High School Library.

Winedale Online Talk

The Texas Revolution is well chronicled. However, for the five thousand or so African Americans in Texas at the time, the war provided little opportunity. Did African Americans help the Texians win the war for independence hoping to be given land of their own, or did they help the invading Mexican army hoping they would be rewarded with emancipation? La Grange Chamber Networking The La Grange Chamber is hosting a free networking meeting on Wednesday, March 6 from 10-11 a.m. at the La Grange Chamber of Commerce office located at 220 W. Colorado St. in La Grange. The speaker will be Heather Barthelme from the Fayette County Community Theatre.

Hermann Sons Life Meeting

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on March 6. Fajitas will be provided and members are asked to bring sides or desserts.

American Legion Quade Werchan The next regular meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, March 7 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 Round Top. This meeting will focus on future needs and operations of the post related to the building and property. Members will receive a mailing outlining the specific topics to be discussed. All post and auxiliary members are requested to attend their respective meetings.

Boys & Girls Club Bingo

Help support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley by partaking in their Best O’ Luck Bingo event on Sunday, March 17 at The Oaks at High Hill. Doors will open at 2 p.m. and the bingo games will be from 3-7 p.m. There will also be a liquor wagon raffle, a four-leaf clover board, a 50/50 raffle and a large item raffle, where you could win a seven-day vacation stay in Roatan! BYOB and snacks or purchase from the bar.

Free Chess Club

Chess for ages 7 to adults with free membership and free chess lessons from a scholastic chess coach (retired) will be held on Mondays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. at the Randolph Rec Center, building C, 653 E.
