Calling All Cat Lovers
Storybook Rescues, Inc., a not-for-profit animal rescue in Cat Spring, is looking for cat lovers. For two years now, since PetSmart opened a new store in Brenham on Highway 290, Storybook Rescues (SBR) has been placing kittens and adult cats there for adoption. A team of committed volunteers care for the cats every day of the year, except for major holidays when the store is closed. SBR cats are housed in a dedicated cat room in three large “condos,” each of which can accommodate several kittens and/or adult cats. Volunteers check the condos every day, which entails cleaning litter boxes and refilling food and water bowls. All supplies are provided. When all three condos are occupied, the process takes about one hour. Taking time to play with the cats is a bonus for the cats and the volunteer, and strongly encouraged. The volunteer may go any time during store hours. Recently, two volunteers left the area, hence the urgent need for new recruits. If you are interested, call Kathy McConnell at (505) 974-3965 for more information.
