St. James Episcopal will hold its annual drive through “Ashes to Go” on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Members are encouraged to attend to hear a guest speaker who will speak to both the Post and Auxiliary members jointly. Following the program, a light meal will be served. The Post and Auxiliary will then continue their regular monthly business meeting.

Every month, librarians will read a classic story while a baby goat helps calm anxieties and stress. February’s book pick is Stuart Little. Parkinson’s Support Group
The Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Randolph Center on Pearl St. This is a public group that is open to anyone who wants to know more about this awful illness. We try to address items of interest to patients identified as having the illness as well as their caregivers. La Grange KC Fish Fry
The La Grange Knights of Columbus will hold a drive-thru fish fry fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 16 from 4-6 p.m. at the KC Community Center in La Grange, located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal will include fried fish and hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $14/plate. Meal is on a first come, first served basis.
Book Signing at The Depot
Friends of the La Grange Railroad Museum will host a booksigning on Friday, Feb. 16, from 6-7 p.m. at the Depot Museum. Texas railroad historian Steve Goen will be at the depot, 260 N. Washington St., to sign copies of his latest book, “Passenger Trains of Texas – The Katy.” This 272-page volume is his 12th book documenting the railroads of Texas. Admission is free.
CVICA Barbecue Brisket Dinner
The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association (CVICA) annual fundraiser barbecue and trade show will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 at the La Grange KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown Street in La Grange. The meal is barbecue brisket, pinto beans, coleslaw and other sides. The event starts at 4 p.m. Free refreshments will be served from 4-6 p.m. and meal starts at 6 p.m. This event features cash door prizes, a gun raffle, silent and regular auctions. Meal and gun raffle tickets available at the door.
Food Bank Truck
Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

Pork Steak Fundraiser
The Holy Cross Youth Group annual pork steak fundraiser will be held Sunday, March 10. Drive-thru only at the Holy Cross picnic grounds in Warda from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates are $15 each and include pork steak, green beans, noodles, and corn. This meal is presale only by Thursday, Feb. 29. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, La Grange Chevron or from any Holy Cross youth group member. There will also be a bake sale with homemade items for a free-will donation.
A&M Club Offering Scholarships
The Fayette County A&M Club is again offering scholarships to seniors of Fayette County high schools that are planning to attend Texas A&M University. Music and Movement Class
Do your kids love music and movement? Join the Fayette Public Library for a new music and movement class with music teacher Jaci Elliot. This class will be offered to children ages five and up and will introduce children to music instruction, instruments, movement, and signing. Registration is not required. Music and Movement Class will be on the first and last Wednesday of every month from 4-5 p.m. starting in February. Monthly program calendars are available for pick up at the library. Adult Crafternoon at Library
Do you love to craft and need an hour to relax? This monthly program will be every second Thursday from 5-6 p.m. Coffee and tea will be available to enjoy. Crafternoon is for adults 18 and up. You can choose to color, paint, create, or participate in our themed craft. Registration is required for the themed craft, and spots are limited to 10 participants. Hospice Brazos Valley is offering an Anticipatory Grief group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
