Muldoon Christmas
The second annual tamale fundraiser benefiting the Cesar Villasana Scholarship will be held Thursday, Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m. The booth will be set up during Schmeckenfest at 245 W. Travis St. (Associate Agents Network) in downtown La Grange.
Christmas in Muldoon will be held on Dec. 9 with lots of fun activities planned for the family. The Muldoon Museum will be open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. with cookies, wassail, and a visit from Mrs. Claus. There will also be baked items for sale. The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church will have children’s crafts, along with Santa (and possibly a few elves) from 5-6 p.m. The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Dept. will be hosting its annual Christmas meal at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a side dish or dessert as fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, and tea will be provided. Free will donations will be accepted. All locations are accepting canned goods for the Flatonia Area Food Pantry.
BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Serenity Star Recovery.
There’s more The City of La Grange would like to inform utility customers that Aqua-Metric Sales Company will be working throughout the city installing the new water meters. The Aqua-Metric work crew(s) can be identified by their Aqua-Metric Sales Company work truck(s) and uniform(s). The City of La Grange expects crews to begin working throughout the city limits starting Dec. 5. It will take approximately six months for crews to replace all of the water meters. Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Meeting

Community Theatre Holding Auditions
Fayette County Community Theatre will hold auditions for a production of the Tony Award winning play God of Carnage. This production will be performed in competition and in a dinner/ show event. Looking specifically for two female and two male actors between the ages of mid 30s to late 40s. Auditions will be held at the FCCT Box office at 120 S. Christmas Tree Lighting and Dedication Come to the Carmine City Park this Saturday, Dec. 9 for the dedication of the newly renovated pavilion, and also the installation of a beautiful “Little Library” built by Caden Tovey. The celebration of the lighting of the Christmas tree will also take place. The party will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the park. Santa arrives at 5 p.m. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served. A special program to thank sponsors will also be held during the evening.

The La Grange FFA Booster Club invites you to visit with Santa Saturday, Dec. 9 beginning at 9 a.m. until noon located at La Grange Farm and Ranch, 623 E. Colorado in La Grange. Raffle & Ribs Fundraiser for Mindy Girard Mindy Girard suffered second and third degree burns covering over 25% of her body. This fundraiser will help offset medical and living expenses for her. The event will take place at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall on Sunday, Dec. 10 with a drive through starting at 10:30 a.m. Racks of ribs will be $30. Raffle tickets are being sold for $10 with over 75 prizes. Annual St. James’ Lessons & Carols All are invited to the annual St. James’ Episcopal Church’s Advent program, How Bright Appears the Morning Star: Lessons and Carols. The Sunday, Dec. 10 program will begin at 3 p.m. and feature Mary Ann Hatfield on the church’s newly acquired Steinway grand piano and digital organ, and the choir directed by Don Kirby. The music of J. S. Bach, Texas’ own Mark Burrows, and several others will be interspersed with biblical readings. The church is in La Grange, across from the H-E-B.

Turkey Dinner Giveaway
St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Schulenburg, under the direction of Rev. Andrew Stafford, will host a turkey dinner giveaway at the Wolters Park Pavilion in Schulenburg on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 1-5 p.m. The church, with assistance from the Schulenburg Police Department, will give away 50 turkey dinners (or gift cards to purchase a dinner), limited to one per household. Proof of address may be required. Children’s goodie bags with fruit and candy will also be given away. The purpose of the event is to build bridges in the community. Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) truck wil be at Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.
Advent Lessons & Carols, St. Barnabas’s At 3 p.m., on Dec. 17 (the third Sunday in Advent), St. Barnabas’s Anglican Church of Bellville, 237 West Austin Street, will present its annual service of Advent Lessons & Carols. The service is about an hour long and will be followed by an offering of light refreshments, appropriate to the season of Advent, in which the Church prepares for celebrating the First Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ, traditionally observed during the Twelve Days of Christmastide, Dec. 25-Jan. 5. The Christmas season does not end but begins on Christmas Day, and looks ahead to His Return, the Second Coming.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau catered Christmas dinner and 2023 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pat Lyons of Muldoon, who was awarded a Silver Star, a Purple Heart and other military honors while serving in the Vietnam War. A short business meeting will follow the Christmas turkey dinner.
AMEN Holiday Hours The AMEN Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, 2024. AMEN will serve clients on Tuesday, Jan. 2 during normal business hours.
Campfire Christmas Eve Service
First Baptist Church in La Grange will have a campfire on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. Bring chairs, blankets and roasting sticks and celebrate Jesus around the campfires. More information and inclement weather information available online at fbclagrange.net/Christmas.
La Grange ShowFund Fun Night
The 20th Annual La Grange Show Fund Fun Night will be held Jan. 13, 2024 at the Round Up Hall Fair Pavilion. The invitations have been mailed. There are single meal tickets for $50 and available for purchase at Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange or any Show Fund member. The single meal ticket includes entrance, a rib-eye steak dinner, drinks, dessert and opportunity to play games. This event directly supports the 4H and FFA students who participate in the Fayette County Livestock Show.
