Czech Open House

The Glory Tones Handbell Choir of New Life Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange, invites you to enjoy their beautiful Christmas music presented at the Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights on Friday, Dec. 1, beginning at 6 p.m. Directed by Nancy Hajek, the choir enjoys bringing some Christmas cheer and being part of the live music line-up of entertainment for such a wonderful event.

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center will host an open house on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Enjoy cooking demonstrations, check out the gift shop and enjoy the decorated homes. Lighted Parade

The Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is will host a Lighted Christmas Parade and Party with Santa in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 2. The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. in downtown Schulenburg. Santa will be in the Gazebo at the Railroad Park following the parade.

Tech Training

Join the Fayette Public Library for an Adult Technology Training on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. There’s more The La Grange Middle School/High School Book Fair will be held at the La Grange High School Library beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1. Hourse are: Nov. 27, 29, and 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All visitors during the day need to check in at the front office. Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For new beekeepers, there will be a Beekeeping 101 presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. A potluck dinner and barbecue will follow, guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation. Membership dues for 2023 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend the meeting, FaycoBeeks welcomes all new members and especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. Christmas Craft Market

The Ledbetter Community Center will have a Christmas craft market on Sunday, Dec. 3 starting at 9 a.m until 4 p.m. Locally made and handcrafted items including crocheted items, bows, tote bags, Christmas decorations, wreaths, hand made jewelry and more. The center is located on Hwy. 290 between Giddings and Carmine, one block off Hwy. 290 at 301 W. Labadle Street.

Holiday Memorial Gathering

Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations will be holding their 15th Annual Holiday Memorial Gathering on Monday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home location in La Grange. This memorial gathering is dedicated to remembering loved ones of families served through the funeral home during the dates of Dec. 1, 2022 through Nov. 19, 2023. Santa will be making the rounds from 5-6 p.m. as well as entertainment by Harpist, Elizabeth Brownlee and Flutist, Dr. Wendy Bergin. Refreshments and appetizers will also be served. The remembrance program will begin at 6 p.m. with the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Childrens Choir followed by the “The Glory Tones” Handbell Choir. Pastor Jonathan Hernandez will provide “Words of Remembrance” prior to the placement of the Memorial Ornament on the Koenig-Belvill Memorial Tree by each family member. Following the closing prayer, family members will receive a Christmas memorial ornament inscribed with their loved one’s name.

ACCSS Scholarship Fundraiser

The Blinn College Foundation is hosting a drawing benefiting the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) for 2023 Drive for Dual Credit Scholarships. Tickets are $20 per ticket or 6 tickets for $100. Prizes include gift cards up to $3,000. Tickets may be purchased at the front office of Blinn College in Schulenburg and the high schools in Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar, Columbus or Fayetteville or visit https://myaccss.net/fundraising.

Christmas at Winedale

Christmas at Winedale will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. There will be crafts and folklife demonstrations, music and theater performances, food and beverages, and more. This event is free. Winedale is located at 3738 FM 2714, Round Top. Call (979) 278-3530 for more information.

Community Theatre Holding Auditions Fayette County Community Theatre will hold auditions for a production of the Tony Award-winning play, “God of Carnage.” This production will be performed in competition and in a dinner/ show event. They are looking specifically for two female and two male actors between the ages of mid-30s to late-40s. Auditions will be held at the FCCT Box office at 120 S. Washington St., La Grange, on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. No preparation needed. Questions? Call (979) 702-9368.

Fayetteville/Ellinger KC Meal Fundraiser The Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus Council No. 3168 will host a pork steak dinner drive-thru fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will include a pork steak, noodles and mixed vegetables for $15 per plate. Meals will also be available for pickup at St. John’s Hall in Fayetteville.
