School Book Fair

The Texas Heroes Museum will be closed for the weekend following Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 26. Please give special thanks to our active duty personnel who are not able to share Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones. The museum will resume normal hours on Friday, Dec. 1.

The La Grange Middle School/High School Book Fair will be held at the La Grange High School Library beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1. Hourse are: Nov. 27, 29, and 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All visitors during the day need to check in at the front office. After school visitors may enter through the back gate. If you have any questions, call the high school office at (979) 968-4800.

Parade Participants

The Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking participants for its Lighted Christmas Parade on Dec. 2. The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. in downtown Schulenburg. Deadline for entries is Nov. 30. Contact the chamber at schulenburgchamber@cvctx.com or call (979) 7434514 for entries.

There’s more The Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus Council No. 3168 will host a pork steak dinner drive-thru fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will include a pork steak, noodles and mixed vegetables for $15 per plate. Meals will also be available for pick-up at St. John’s Hall in Fayetteville. Call (979) 249-6003 to reserve your meal, leave a message. You can also call the La Grange Knights of Columbus at (979) 968-5117 for meal reservations. The meal will benefit local Fayetteville/Ellinger scholarhips.

Schulenburg Lighted Christmas Parade

The Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is will host a Lighted Christmas Parade and Party with Santa in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 2. The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. in downtown Schulenburg. Santa will be in the Gazebo at the Railroad Park following the parade.

LG Senior Citizens Group Trip

The La Grange Senior Citizens group will be taking a Christmas trip to Flatonia on Thursday, Dec. 7 to view a movie at the Lyric Theatre and visit the E.A. Arnim Museum. The group will leave at 9:15 a.m. from the Randolph Recreation Center parking lot between the city splash pad and the Recreation Center building. The group will return at 3 p.m. Transportation will be provided by the city van and some carpooling. Cost of the movie will be paid by the Senior Citizens Activity Center. Lunch will be on your own. The Red Vault Bistro and Darlin’s Diner restaurants are on either side of the Lyric Theatre. In the afternoon the group will tour the E.A. Arnim Museum. Admission to the museum is free. ACCSS Scholarship Fundraiser

The Blinn College Foundation is hosting a drawing benefiting the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) for 2023 Drive for Dual Credit Scholarships. Tickets are $20 per ticket or 6 tickets for $100. Prizes include gift cards up to $3,000. Tickets may be purchased at the front office of Blinn College in Schulenburg and Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar, Columbus or Fayetteville High Schools or visit https://myaccss.net/fundraising.
