“Surviving the Holidays” GriefShare

The annual Memorial Service and Mass for Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will be held Tuesday Nov. 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Recitation of the Rosary begins at 6 p.m. Memorial Service and Mass at 6:30 p.m., followed by a supper at the parish center.

Pastor Andy Smith is offering a two hour “Surviving the Holidays” GriefShare Seminar on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at New Life Methodist Church, 1215 North Von Minden Road, La Grange. The event is free and will begin at 6 p.m. Grieving the loss of a family member or friend during the holiday season can be particularly painful. Thoughts of social gatherings, family traditions, and obligations can produce feelings of anxiety and stress. “Surviving the Holidays” is a program produced by GriefShare and offers practical, actionable strategies for making it through this time of year. This seminar includes a video featuring advice from people in grief who have faced the holidays after their loss. You will hear insight from respected Christian counselors, pastors, and psychologists. You will also receive a holiday survival guide with practice strategies, encouraging words, helpful exercises, and journaling ideas for daily survival through the holiday season. Pack A Shoebox

Operation Christmas child boxes are available at the Round Top Family Library. Come by the library Monday-Saturday during library hours to pick up a shoe box. Once you have filled the box, bring it back by Nov. 16. For details, visit samaritanspurse. org/occ.

FCCT Hosts Last Open Mic Night of 2023 The Fayette County Community Theatre is hosting the last Open Mic Night of the year on Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. Come out to the FCCT Box Office and Studio at 120 S. Washington St. in La Grange to share your acting, comedic, vocal, or musical talents, or to enjoy the talents of others.

RT Hermann Sons Meeting

The Round Top Hermann Sons meeting is Thursday, Nov. 16

at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social time is 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Election of officers will be held. Chili will be served. Members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Donations and items for CASA may be brought to the meeting or dropped off at Round Top Real Estate office.

Vietnam Veterans

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Al-Anon meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church located at 1201 Main St. in Bastrop. Republican Women Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension building, 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange. Speakers will be representatives from Texas Moms for America, an organization that is working to reclaim our culture for truth, family, freedom, and the Constitution, empowering moms, promoting liberty, raising patriots. Parkinson’s Support Group

The November meeting of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. The usual meeting room at the Randolph Center on Pearle St. should be available. Please refer to personal e-mails sent to members for plans for something new. Anyone interested in finding out more about PD (Parkinson’s Disease) is welcome. Farmers Market Changes Locations Farmer’s Market on the La Grange Courthouse Square every Saturday morning until noon has changed locations. Due to the temporary median construction across from Latte, vendors are setting up on the square across from Columbus Eye. Vendors have assortments of canned goods, baked goods, cheese, Jellies, yard eggs, soaps and all sorts of unique crafts suitable for Christmas gifts.

Christmas Craft Fair

The New Life Methodist Church (formerly FUMC) will host a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 18. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are 28 vendors with many different crafts. Lunch will be served by the Methodist Men. Proceeds from this event will benefit Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. A live plant will be given to anyone donating to Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child. For more information, contact New Life Methodist Church at (979) 968-8323.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Central Texas Food Bank food truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM2145 on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by the Central Texas Food Bank. The food truck is in Waldeck on the third Saturdays of each month. The next scheduled date is Dec. 16.
