Visit With Elaine Thomas

Friends of the Schulenburg Library invite the public to visit with Elaine Thomas, the author of Stories I’ve Been Told – Volume 3, and those from the Schulenburg area featured (or their family members) in the new book on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.mnoon at the Schulenburg Library. Refreshments will be served.

Veteran’s Day Poster Ex

The Smith-McMillann Daughters of the American Revolution and the Quade-Werchan American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a Veteran’s Poster display inside the Round Top Courthouse on Saturday, Nov. 11. Posters have been created by locals and also Round Top Carmine students. The public is invited.

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Serenity Star Recovery.

Lions Famous Cheeseballs

The Bluebonnet Lions are taking pre-orders for their famous cheeseballs. Each cheeseball is $12. Cash or check with pick up on Nov. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden. Contact Donna Pyle at (979) 966-3485 or by text. Turkey and Dressing Meal

Martin Luther Lutheran Church and Carmine Women of the ELCAwill have a turkey and dressing meal with ham on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the MLLC Mission and Ministry Building from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the church office by calling (979) 278-3388, Carmine State Bank at (979) 278-3244, or Leonita Sanders at (979) 820-1360.

St. Paul Lutheran to Host TLU President Debbie Cottrell, President of Texas Lutheran University, will visit St. Paul Lutheran Church located at Walnut and Jefferson Streets in La Grange on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the 9 a.m. service. A meet and greet with TLU alumni and friends as well as church members will follow with coffee after the service. The presiding Minister for worship will be TLU campus pastor Wes Cain. All are welcome.

Arts & Crafts Show Schulenburg The Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will present a Holiday in the Country Arts and Crafts Show on Sunday, Nov. 12. The doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Schulenburg Hall (formally known as the Schulenburg KC Hall) located at 405 South Street, Schulenburg. There will be handmade crafts, Christmas décor, baked goods, Scentsy products, Tupperware, wood crafts, plants, crosses, wine décor and gift bags, aprons, jewelry, purses, and much, more. Throughout the day there will be door prizes but, you must be present to win. Food and drink will be available.

Plum Hermann Sons Life

The Plum Hermann Sons Life will meet Monday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal and dessert will be provided. Members, save the date for the Christmas party, Saturday, Dec. 9 a 4 p.m. at Prairie Valley Schoolhouse.

Retired Teachers’ Meeting

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’Association will meet on Monday, Nov. 13, at the New Life Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. A silent auction will be held to benefit the TRS Foundation. Members and guests may bring items for the auction (not a requirement). Fellowship time will be at 1:30 p.m auction-viewing time, and business meeting will begin at 2 p.m. While the association name implies only teachers, all personnel are invited, whether they are from another city, county, or state. KC & CDA Memorial Service & Mass The annual Memorial Service and Mass for Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will be held Tuesday Nov. 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Recitation of the Rosary begins at 6 p.m. Memorial Service and Mass at 6:30 p.m., followed by a supper at the parish center.

BBQ Turkeys, Stuffing & Gravy

The La Grange Knights of Columbus along with the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity will host a Thanksgiving fundraiser. The La Grange Knights of Columbus will be selling 14-16 lb. BBQ turkeys for $60 each. Homemade dressing (9x13) for $30 and 1 qt. of giblet gravy for $10 will be available from the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity prepared by Jill Steuber. Each item is available separately. All orders must be placed with the Knights of Columbus before Nov. 16. Call (979) 968-5117 to pre-order. Pickup will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center at 190 Brown St. in La Grange.

Marine Corps League Meeting

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Christmas Craft Fair

The New Life Methodist Church (formerly FUMC) will host a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 18. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are 28 vendors with many different crafts. Lunch will be served by the Methodist Men. Proceeds from this event will benefit Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
