Museum Exhibit

The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An opening reception for the new exhibit, “Rev. Carl Baer: German Missionary to Waldeck,” will be held in the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives on Saturday, Nov. 4 with a brief program beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Museum is above the Fayette Public Library at 855 S. Adult Tech Class

There’s more The 61st anniversary All Veterans Day honoring all veterans of all eras will be held Sunday, Nov. 5 at Praha Cemetery. A Patriotic Rosary will begin at 8:45 a.m. Mass to be offered for all Veterans at 9:30 a.m. at Praha Church. Assembly at 10:30 a.m. with a Veterans Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Flyover by Commemorative Air Force at noon. Guest Speaker is Dan Mueller. A fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be available for $13. Bring lawn chairs as seating is limited. Moulton School band will play and there will be a flower drop.

Sports Booster Club

The La Grange All Sports Booster Club will hold their monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the La Grange High School Library.

Band Booster Club Meeting

The La Grange Band Booster Club will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the La Grange High School Band Hall.

Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser

The Fayetteville Lions Club spaghetti supper scholarship fundraiser will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The meal is $15 a plate, dine in or take out. Pick up a dessert at the bake sale. All takes place at the old fire station on the square. Tickets can be purchased at Fayetteville Bank, Orsak’s Cafe, Fayetteville Store, Prohibition Liquor, the Wine Bar, and Circle C Store.

KJT Chicken Fajita Dinner

Pastor Andy Smith is offering a two hour “Surviving the Holidays” GriefShare Seminar on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at New Life Methodist Church, 1215 North Von Minden Road, La Grange. The event is free and will begin at 6 p.m. Grieving the loss of a family member or friend during the holiday season can be particularly painful. Thoughts of social gatherings, family traditions, and obligations can produce feelings of anxiety and stress. “Surviving the Holidays” is a program produced by GriefShare and offers practical, actionable strategies for making it through this time of year. This seminar includes a video featuring advice from people in grief who have faced the holidays after their loss. You will hear insight from respected Christian counselors, pastors, and psychologists. You will also receive a holiday survival guide with practice strategies, encouraging words, helpful exercises, and journaling ideas for daily survival through the holiday season. BBQ Turkeys, Stuffing & Gravy

The La Grange Knights of Columbus along with the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity will host a Thanksgiving fundraiser. The La Grange Knights of Columbus will be selling 14-16 lb. BBQ turkeys for $60 each. Homemade dressing (9x13) for $30 and 1 qt. of giblet gravy for $10 will be available from the Fayette County Habitat for Humanity prepared by Jill Steuber. Each item is available seperately. All orders must be placed with the Knights of Columbus before Nov. 16. Call (979) 968-5117 to pre-order. Pickup will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center at 190 Brown St. in La Grange.

Farmers Market Change

The Farmer’s Market on the La Grange Courthouse Square held every Saturday morning until noon has changed locations. Due to the temporary median construction across from Latte La Grange, vendors are currently setting up on the square across from Columbus Eye Associates. Local vendors have assortments of homemade canned goods, baked goods, cheese, jellies, yard eggs, soaps and all sorts of unique crafts suitable for Christmas gifts.

The Catholic Union of Texas, KJT Society No. 46 La Grange is hosting their annual drive-thru only chicken fajita dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Center. Advanced tickets sold at the KJT Home Office, 214 E. Colorado St. in La Grange, or call (979) 968-5877. Limited tickets available at the drive-thru. Tickets are $14 each and 50% of the net proceeds will be donated to the AMEN Food Pantry of La Grange. Bake sale proceeds will also be donated to the AMEN Food Pantry of La Grange with a matching grant from the KJT Home Office.

Grief Group Date Change

Hospice Brazos Valley’s Anticipatory Grief group will meet the second Wednesday, Nov. 8, this month only. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group usually meets on the third Wednesday of each month. American Legion, Auxiliary Post No. 102 TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Members who are going to volunteer in distributing the Buddy Poppies on Nov. 9, attend this meeting to pick up your Poppies. Members are encouraged to attend the meeting to discuss the upcoming business matters related to community Thanksgiving food baskets and the Christmas Veterans visits and gifts. New potential members for the Post and the Auxiliary are welcome to attend. A light meal will be served following the business meeting.

Pilot & Anchor Clubs Bake Sale Baked goodies will be available Wednesday, Nov. 8 beginning at 9 a.m. on the sidewallk at the entrance of Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe. Enjoy cakes, cookies, pies, and candy plus peanut brittle. A hot sandwich lunch will be for sale to go prepared by Le Petite Gourmet. The Battle of The Alamo

The next Winedale online talk will be “The Battle of the Alamo: A Flashpoint of the Texas Revolution.” The Alamo’s Senior Curator, Historian and Lecturer Ernesto Rodriguez traces the roots of the Texas Revolution, from the political seat of power in Mexico City to the frontier battlefields across modern-day South Texas. Buddy Poppy Distribution

In remembrance of Veterans Day, Buddy Poppies will be distributed in the La Grange area on Thursday, Nov. 9, by members of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5254 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102. The donations will benefit the Veterans assistance programs. Wear your poppy with pride and remember the sacrifices service members have made for our freedom.

American Legion Quade-Werchan With the conclusion of the Fall 2023 Antiques Show, the next regular meeting of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary will occur at their facility on Thursday, Nov. 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m. All members of the American Legion and Auxiliary are encouraged to attend as the post elects officers for the upcoming year of 2024. Any interested veterans, spouses of veterans, and daughters or sons of veterans are welcome and also encouraged to attend.

Veterans Day Program

All Veterans are invited to join to honor all who have served our nation on Friday, Nov. 10 at La Grange High School and Middle School. The program will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the La Grange High School Gym located at 820 S. Vail in La Grange.

City Holiday Schedule

City of La Grange offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10 for Veterans Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule.

Notice For Republican Party Candidates Applications for a place on the Republican party 2024 primary ballot opens on Nov. 11. Fayette County Republicn Party County Chairman, Deborah Frank, will be accepting applications on Monday, Nov. 13, at Latte on the Square, 2189 W. Travis in La Grange, starting at 10 a.m., until 3 p.m. A notary will be there to notarize your application. A money order or cashier’s check is the preferred method of payment for your filing fee. If you are unable to submit your application on Nov. 13, you may contact Deborah Frank at (979) 270-1555 to arrange a date, time, and location to meet. Then, your application must be notarized when you submit it with your filing fee. The last day to file for a place on the 2024 primary ballot is Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.
