Fall Fair In RT

Round Top DYD Fall Square Fair will be held on the courthouse square open daily from Oct. 13-28. Lots of beautiful and unique finds.

St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Arts for Rural Texas.

Bake Sale

The La Grange Juneteenth Committee will be holding a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 14 beginning at 8 a.m. at Fayette Medical Supply, 362 E. Travis St. (next to H-E-B).

Hermann Sons

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Lodge will have their meeting on Monday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Fayette Water

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the board of directors on Monday, Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

There’s more Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Archeology Day

The third annual Archeology Day at Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will be on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. With nine hands-on family activities, artifact exhibits from the Kreische collections, tours and presentations, and a special take-home prize for participants, the event is bigger and better than ever. America Needs Fatima Rosary Crusade.

A Public Square Rosary will held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at noon on the lawn of the Fayetteville Courthouse. This event marks the 106th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima where Our Lady appeared to the three children. This public event is one of 22,000 held all over the world to publicly pray the rosary and other prayers. Everyone is invited to attend and if you wish bring a lawn chair.

Bingo for Seniors

The Ledbetter Community Center has bingo for seniors 60 and older, plus guests, on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips and drinks available for a free will donation. If you miss October you can join Nov. 12 or Dec. 10. Any questions, call (979) 249-2175.

Fall Clean Up Week

The City of La Grange has designated Oct. 16-20, as Fall Cleanup Week. The City will pick up one free load of brush during this week. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, separate them from the branches. Make sure there is no trash mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: Oct. 16-17, South Side of the City (Travis St.-Hwy. 71 Bus.); Oct.18-19, North Side of the City. Waste Management will be doing the Curbside Bulk Pickup on Oct. 21. The City will also have roll off containers available to residential utility customers for hard to dispose of items. These containers will be located at the City Service Center inside the yard and customers will have to show their utility bill receipt to be able to discard their items. These containers will be available Monday-Thursday, Oct. 16-19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. No tires, batteries, construction debris, paint or chemicals will be accepted. Only one set of mattresses per utility bill will be accepted. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units must be tagged certifying that the refrigerant has been removed by a certified technician. Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau hall. The social starts at 6 p.m. followed by a potluck supper. There will be a business meeting after the supper. Guest speaker will be Cooper Mau, a senior at Fayetteville High School and the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador. Members are asked to bring a covered dish or a dessert.

Winedale’s Lunch & Learn Talk

Winedale’s next lunch and learn will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon. Historian Sheldon Lippman, the immediate past-president and an active member of the Texas Jewish Historical Society, will present “The Comings and Goings of a Jewish Community in Fayette County.” He will discuss the Jewish families who settled in the towns of Fayette County in the mid-1800s seeking economic opportunities and religious freedom. VFW Post No. 5254 & Auxiliary Meeting A light meal and meetings will be held by La Grange Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 andAuxiliary on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the VFW Home in La Grange. VFW Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m., joint meal at 6 p.m., followed by the VFW Post meeting.

Music Series in Fayetteville

Arts for Rural Texas is offering a free music series during the month of October. The Fayetteville Courthouse Music Series is held from 6-8 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn. The monthly meeting of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on the third Thursday of the month, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located on Pearl Street in La Grange. Anyone who is interested in finding out or sharing information with those attending is welcome. One of the strong points about this group seems to be the openness to sharing and discussing individual problems encountered. Those members who have experienced such events previously may have suggestions for treatment.
