Kindergarten Nominations For Leap

Nominations for LGISD kindergarten students is open until Nov. 15. If you would like to nominate your child for the LEAP screening process, fill out a parent/community nomination form and return to school with your child. This can be found in the “Forms and Documents” section of the Gifted and Talented site.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Marine Corps League Meeting

Marine Corps League Detachment 1028 will meet for their regular monthly meeting the fourth Tuesday of the month at the La Grange VFW Hall at 7 p.m. Contact Bobby Bedient at bobbymcl1028@ gmail.com for more information.

Weimar Farmers Market

The Weimar Farmers Market, located in the green buildng at 201 W. Main, showcases local farmers every second Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. There is no fee to participate but vendors must register in advance by emailing info@weimarchamber.com.

Grief Group

Hospice Brazos Valley is offering anAnticipatory Grief group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange. Habitat Coloring Contest

The Fayette County Habitat for Humanity Christmas Coloring Contest is now open. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win this contest. The contest is open to children in grades 1-6. Each entry consists of a completed, official coloring page. Coloring pages can be downloaded at www. FayetteCountyHabitat.org/2023contest. One entry per person. Entries can be scanned and submitted via email to: info@FayetteCountyHabitat. org. Entries can also be mailed to P.O. Box 1127, La Grange, TX 78945. All of the entries will be separated into the following six (6) brackets: 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and whimsy. There will be six grand prizes. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Republican Party Fourth Quarter Meeting

Fayette County Republican Party will host their fourth quarter meeting on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 9:30 a.m. until Noon. The group will focus on an open discussion of the 14 proposed constitutional amendments which will appear on the Nov. 7 ballot to identify the pros and cons of each. The goal is to allow attendees to ask questions and voice their concerns or opinions. The discussion will be moderated by David Stall. Additionally, Andrew McVeigh, Executive Director of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility will attend as a subject matter expert. Guests are welcome. Free refreshments will be provided. Food Bank Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at Junction FM-1291 and FM2145 on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

Prayer In Pink in Schulenburg

St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Schulenburg will host a Prayer in Pink on Sunday, Oct. 22 starting at 2 p.m. The topic will be “Remember: Cancer Cannot Conquer Hope,” led by Pastor Andrew E. Stafford with guest speaker Bishop Harry Davis of Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church. St. James is located at 1103 James Ave. in Schulenburg.

Career Night at LHS Gym

La Grange High School is hosting a College, Career, and Military Night on Monday, Oct. 23 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the high school gym at 820 S. Vail Street.

Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

The Fayette County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the KC Hall in La Grange located at 190 S. Brown. Social begins at 6 p.m. Meal at 7 p.m. $5 for advance member tickets, advance non-member tickets are $7 by Oct. 16 and $10 at the door. Door prizes, raffle prizes and a food drive. One extra raffle ticket for every three non-perishable items donated. Regan Beck, TFB Director of Government Affairs, will discuss Prop 1. Tickets can be purchased or reserved at 411 E. Women’s Small Business Seminar The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting you to the first annual National Women’s Small Business Seminar/Workshop to be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at the Historic Casino Hall, 254 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free and anyone interested can register by calling the chamber office (979) 968-5756 or visit the La Grange Chamber website. Aaron Demerson, Commissioner representing employers from Texas Workforce Commission, will deliver the opening remarks.

Christmas Craft Show

Help Sages and Saints by making homemade items that can be sold at the Christmas Craft Show on Nov. 18 at New Life Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Purchase lunch and dessert provided by the Methodist Men.

Adult Book Club at Library

The Fayette Public Library has an adult book club. Coffee and Conversations is an adult book club that meets every third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and discuss the latest books or your favorite books.
