Museum Exhibit
Contraptions and Innovations, the current exhibit on early Fayette County patents at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives will end on Friday, Oct. 13. Visitors are welcome upstairs above the public library at 855 S. Jefferson Street in La Grange from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
KC BBQ Sunday
The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will hold their monthly barbecue chicken and sausage to-go on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. A slab of pork ribs is $20, chicken is $10, and sausage is $7. Orders are guaranteed on call-ins by calling (979) 968-5117.
German Society
The Fayette County Chapter of the Texas German Society will have their monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Randolph Rec. Center. Frau Faske and her German students will tell about their upcoming GAPP exchange. Members will bring a favorite snack or dessert to the meeting.
There’s more Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support

Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
WoodmenLife Annual Community Dinner
WoodmenLife Texas Chapter 302 will have their annual community dinner on Monday, Oct. 2 at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for social hour at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be pork tenderloin and sides will be prepared by Royer’s Round Top Cafe at 6:30 p.m. Games, prizes, live DJ and dinner provided by WoodmenLife. Invite a guest to join. Bring a dessert to share for your chance to win the dessert contest. Bring five canned goods per person for your chance to win a special drawing. Guest Minister at Calvary Baptist Church Jay Hernandez, originally from La Grange, will be preaching at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m,. Jay is a minister who works for Project Hope & Saving Grace, a Christian-based recovery center. He will be sharing the testimony of how God radically delivered him out of a lifestyle of addiction. Calvary Baptist Church is located at 650 Ellinger Rd. La Grange.
Rek Hill RVOS Lodge Meeting
The Rek Hill RVOS Lodge will have a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at the residence of Richard Kovar. CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 25 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Guest speakers will be two representatives from Hospice Brazos Valley, who will speak to members about their organization and services. Members are invited to attend. New members are always welcome.
Hermann Sons Meeting
Round Top Hermann Sons will meet Thursday, Sept. 28, at the American Legion Hall. Social begins at 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Bring sandwiches, desserts, etc. to share.
Garden Club Meeting
The La Grange Garden Club will come back together after summer break on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Randolph Rec. Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced gardeners and to pass along your passion and know how. Green thumbs and not so green thumbs all are welcome.
Simmons, Lemons, Adams Reunion The Simmons, Lemons, and Adams annual family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Blase’s Hall in Hallettsville. Blase’s is located nine miles east of Shiner and approximate 3 1/2 miles west of Hallettsville. Any descendants of the Simmons, Lemons or Adams that reside in Lavaca, Victoria, Harris, Travis, Bexar, Fayette, Dallas, Wharton, Caldwell and any other surrounding Texas counties are encouraged to attend. Bring desserts, vegetables, a raffle gift, yourself and others. Scholarship winners will be announced during this time. The theme for 2023 is “The Lord is Our Keeper.” This year the contest is “The Best Dressed Texan.” There will be four age groups and cash prizes awarded in each age group. Buckner’s Creek Wildlife Annual Meeting The annual Buckner’s Creek Wildlife Association meeting will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at St. Peter and Paul Church Hall located on Plum Church Rd. in Plum. Registration is at 2 p.m. and meeting is at 3 p.m. Meal to follow. Please bring a salad or dessert.
