Gymnastics Class

Registration for tumbling and gymnastics will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl in La Grange. Fees are $75 a month participant for one time per week per child; $100 a month participant 2 times per week (2 siblings $90 each per month, 3 siblings $80 each per month). Orsak Bake Sale

In memory of Dorothy Orsak, Ellinger Cares will be holding a bake sale on Sept. 2 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hruska’s Store in Ellinger. Enjoy homemade desserts and help celebrate an inspiration and a bright light in the Ellinger/Fayetteville community. All money collected will be donated to the following organizations in her honor: St. Mary’s Church, Ellinger, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department, Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, La Grange, St. Jude Children’s Research Center, and Shriners Hospital for Children.

There’s more Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Winchester Farmer’s Market

Zilss Hall, located at the corner of Memorial Hall Rd. and FM 153 in Winchester, will be the site of the monthly Winchester Farmer’s Market this Saturday, Sept. 2 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. If you would like to be a vendor, the cost is $10 for a space and you must bring your own table and chairs. You may register on site. For more information, contact Shanti Odom at (512) 913-9110.

Labor Day Garbage Schedule

City offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, for the Labor Day Holiday. Waste Management garbage and recycle service will be on their regular schedule for the week of the Labor Day Holiday. The week of Sept. 4, is a recycling week for residential customers. Commercial dumpster service will be on regular schedule, also.

Pantry Hours

The AMEN Food Pantry will close Monday, Sept. 4 for Labor Day. The pantry will open Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon for food distribution

Fayette County Democratic Party

Square Dance Lessons at Randolph The La Grange Road Runner Square Dance Club will host beginning square and round dance lessons in La Grange at the Randolph Center, 653 E. Pearl St. Round Dance Lessons are from 5:30-7 p.m. and Square Dance Lessons are from 7-8:30 p.m. First lesson is on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Round dance lessons are $5 per person per evening. Square dance lessons are $20 per person per month. First lesson is free. A great time to make new friends, get some exercise, and enjoy a new skill. Hermann Sons Life Meeting

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. The meal will be fajitas and members are asked to bring a side or dessert.

Water Line Construction

The City of La Grange will be working on a new water line on Von Minden Rd. Von Minden Rd. will be closed from The Remnant Church parking lot to the back entrance of St. Mark’s Medical Center. This will occur on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please obey all road closure and detour signs for your protection as well as the workers.

American Legion Quade-Werchan The next regular meeting of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. Prior to the meeting a social hour and catered dinner will be held to honor the two students from Round Top-Carmine High School who attended Girls State Convention 2023 that is supported by the Ladies Auxiliary. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the dinner. All post members are requested to be in attendance for this meeting.

Wildlife Management Co-op Meeting The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Co-op is having their annual fall meeting on Sept. 9 at Camp Kubena (formerly Cooper Farms). Social begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting starts at 5 p.m. with a meal to follow. There will be multiple speakers giving informative programs, door prizes, live auction and a bucket raffle. Fayetteville Schools Reunion

The annual Fayetteville schools reunion for graduates of Fayetteville High School and St. John’s School will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Joe’s Place on the Fayetteville town square. Optionally, the Fayetteville school “Red Building” and gym will be open for viewing from 2:30-3:45 p.m. (meet at the school). Reunion begins at 4 p.m. with a social, meeting, dinner and music by DJ Aaron. A meal of chicken fried steak/grilled chicken breast, potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert will be served. The cost of the meal is $13 per plate with advance payment required by Sept. 6 to be guaranteed a meal. Mail checks to Larry Malota at 9077 Lightsey Ln., College Station, TX 77845. The bar will be open to purchase drinks. In addition, Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) will host a complimentary coffee and dessert bar at the ARTS Ross Gallery on the Fayetteville square for all of the Fayetteville class reunion guests on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 5-9 p.m. Any guest who would like to make a donation to ARTS of $10 or more will receive a complimentary commemorative coffee mug featuring the Fayetteville Water Tower by Fayetteville ISD Alum, Allyson Hoffmann, class of 2018 (while supplies last).
