Muldoon Museum

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. Members are asked to bring a covered dish for the meal and a dessert if they wish.

The Muldoon Museum will have their monthly meeting Wednesday, Aug. 2 beginning at 2 p.m. in the museum building. The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, Aug. 5, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

RT Family Library

The Round Top Family Library has several free programs during the month of August. Yoga in the library is on Mondays at 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Wednesdays. Chess Club meets on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and a Medicare class is offered on Aug. 8 at 2:30 p.m.; FYI Don’t be a victim on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.; and Family Game Day is Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. Pre School storytime is on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. Communicating to connect class will be held Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. Contact the library for details on all classses and programs at (979) 249-2700 or ilovetoread.org.

Democratic Party

La Grange Noon Lions Club August 2023 Speaker lineup has been set. Meetings are Thursdays, from noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! There’s more The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club will be selling their chicken spaghetti and Mexican taco casseroles on Saturday, Aug. 12. The casseroles are $12 each and will be available for pick up at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 427 S. Washington St. starting at 10:30 a.m. Pre-orders will be accepted up until Friday, Aug. 4. Emerging Artists Youth Competition

The Emerging Artists Competition provides an annual opportunity for creative teens to showcase their creations. The exhibition will run from Aug. 5-26 at the ARTS Ross Gallery, 114 North Live Oak Street in Fayetteville. Registration is now open online. Visit https://form.jotform.com/231656174739162. Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For new beekeepers, there will be a Beekeeping 101 presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. A potluck dinner and barbecue will follow, guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation. Membership dues for 2023 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend the meeting, FaycoBeeks welcomes all new members and especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. Mica-Mares Family Reunion

The Mica-Mares family reunion will be held at the Flatonia Civic Center in Flatonia on Sunday, Aug. 6 beginning at 10 a.m. Bring a main dish, side dish or a dessert for the noon meal and an item for the silent auction.

All Sports Senior Citizen Pass All Sports Senior Citizen Pass available starting Aug. 8, at the La Grange ISD Administration Building, 540 N. Monroe, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Passes are $30 each and Varsity Football is included. Purchase must be made in person with a valid ID. General admission seating only. Valid only at La Grange ISD facilities. 65th Woppenkamp Family Reunion The 65th Woppenkamp family reunion will be held at the Rohde Bait Shop, 3214 W. Hwy. 159 in Fayetteville, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. Senior Citizens Event

The Fayette County Fair Senior Citizens event, 65 and older, will take place on Aug. 31 from 4-6 p.m. at the Pavilion Hall at the fairgrounds. There will be music, refreshments, door prizes and a meal served at 5 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at the La Grange Cleaners, Orsak’s Cafe in Fayetteville, or by contacting Barbara Kalina at (979) 249-7450. The tickets are $5 each and may also be purchased at the door on the day of the event for $5. On Aug. 16 and Aug. 17 advance tickets will be sold at the fairgrounds ticket booth from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Water Conservation

The City of Carmine is asking residents to conserve water, due to the forecasted drought. This will prevent an emergency situation with mandatory water conservation. For addresses with even numbers, water on Thursdays and Sundays. For odd numbers, water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Water between midnight and 10 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight.

Winchester to Hold Farmer’s Market Zilss Hall, located at the corner of Memorial Hall Rd. and FM153 in Winchester, will be the site of the monthly Winchester Farmer’s Market this Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. If you would like to be a vendor, the cost is $10 for a space and you must bring your own table and chairs. You may register on site. For more information, contact Shanti Odom at (512) 913-9110.
