Golf Tournament

The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host their annual Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament Friday, July 28 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, morning and afternoon tee times. Two person scramble is $250 per team. All golfers are entitled to a free meal and drinks after the tournament at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Community Center. A live and silent auction and door prizes will be held. Paint-a-Landscape

Join Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites Saturday, July 29, from 9-11 a.m. for an informal outdoor painting activity on the Bluff. Enjoy the natural beauty of the sites and capture the early morning scenic views in watercolor. Additionally, stop by to watch a plein air demonstration from local artist Stephen Henry. Optimist Soccer

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. Members are asked to bring a covered dish for the meal and a dessert if they wish.

Muldoon Museum Meeting

The Muldoon Museum will have their monthly meeting Wednesday, Aug. 2 beginning at 2 p.m. in the museum building. The Muldoon Museum will be open Saturday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Bluebonnet Lions Casseroles

The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club will be selling their chicken spaghetti and Mexican taco casseroles on Saturday, Aug. 12. The casseroles are $12 each and will be available for pick up at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 427 S. Washington St. starting at 10:30 a.m. Pre-orders will be accepted up until Friday, Aug. 4. You can place your order by calling or texting Lion Member Marsha Pyle at (512) 566-8080 or any other Bluebonnet Lions Members. Proceeds benefit local scholarships and charities.

Back to the 80’s Performance

“Back to the 80s” will be performed at the La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center located on the La Grange Elementary campus. Ticket prices are $15 for adult general admission, $10 for student general admission, and $20 for early seating. Tickets are available for purchase from FCCT’s Box Office located at 120 South Washington Street in La Grange or online at www. faycotheatre.com. The show begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, and Saturday, Aug. 5. Sunday, Aug. 6 matinee begins at 3 p.m.

Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For new beekeepers, there will be a Beekeeping 101 presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. A potluck dinner and barbecue will follow, guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation. Membership dues for 2023 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend the meeting, FaycoBeeks welcomes all new members and especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. Back 2 School Festival

Tejas Health Care and the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Back 2 School Festival Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Pre-K through 8th grades at the Tejas Health Care administration building, 753 E. Travis St. in La Grange. Stop by for a free backpack, school supplies, snow cones, hot dogs, and popcorn.

Mica-Mares Family Reunion

The Mica-Mares family reunion will be held at the Flatonia Civic Center in Flatonia on Sunday, Aug. 6 beginning at 10 a.m. Bring a main dish, side dish or a dessert for the noon meal and an item for the silent auction.

Reading at the Library

Do you need practice reading out loud? Are you nervous to read in front of others? Do you need a friend who will listen and not judge? Do you love dogs? Fayette Public Library is partnering with Pets With A Mission on Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 5-6 p.m. to provide a relaxing hour of reading for children in grades 1st-6th. This event is a registration only event. 20 spots are available. Call the library at (979) 968-3765 to reserve your spot.

Water Conservation

The City of Carmine is asking residents to conserve water, due to the forecasted drought. This will prevent an emergency situation with mandatory water conservation. For addresses with even numbers (including zero), water on Thursdays and Sundays. For odd numbers, water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Water between midnight and 10 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight.
