Marine Corps League Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Widowed Spouses Support Group

Happy Tails Fundraiser For Shelter Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter seeks sponsors, and auction donations. The Shelter will be holding its second annual Happy Tails event. Annual Camp Lone Star Barbecue Rev. John Karle, Lead Missionary and Campus Pastor at University Lutheran Chapel in College Station, will be the featured speaker at the Annual BBQ Worship Service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 30 at Camp Lone Star. All from the area are invited. The day starts off at 9:45 a.m. with a special dedication and ribbon cutting for the camp’s newest ministry space, the Base Camp Dining Hall. Then, pre-service music by the Summer Staff begins at 10:45 a.m. under the canopy of trees near the lake (A/C live-streamed service is available in the Koop Center). Following the service will be the traditional barbecue luncheon with noodles and all the trimmings. Drive-thru barbecue plates can also be purchased for $15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Live and silent benefit auctions follow from 1-3 p.m. indoors at the Koop Center. The BBQ and auction is one of the main events which supports Camp Lone Star each year. Last year, more than $100,000 was raised thanks to dedicated friends and the local community. The goal this year is to raise $105,000 which will allow Camp to continue fulfilling a mission of transforming lives through adventurous Christ-centered experiences.
