Food Truck

The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host Wine-O Bingo on Saturday, July 15 at Svetlik Farm, 2616 FM 2672 in Schulenburg. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $25 and a reserved table for 8 is $175. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Enjoy 20 games (or more), plus a black-out (big prize for this one). Prizes include wine, liquor, unique beers and lots of door prizes. BYOB, coolers and snacks are welcome. Join the table decorating contest. Decorating begins at 4:30 p.m. You must be 21 years of age or older to play. Tickets are available by calling the chamber office at (979) 7434514.

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, July 15 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-through the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by Central Texas Food Bank.

Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare will be presented by Camp Shakespeare at Winedale on Saturday, July 15 at 3 p.m. at La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10. Children 12 and under are free. For ticket reservations, contact Robin Grace Soto ( robingracesoto@ utexas.edu). Reservations for the performances are recommended but not required. Tickets can be paid for at the door using cash, check, or card.

There’s more Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support

Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Support Group for caregivers of a loved one with Alzheimer’s/dementia on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

Loss of a Child Support Group

A support and educational group for parents or grandparents who are grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process with be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. For more information and location of support group, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 9686913.

Al-Anon Meetings in Bastrop

Al-Anon meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church located at 1201 Main St. in Bastrop. If you are struggling with a relative or friend who misuses alcohol or any other addiction, Bastrop Al-Anon (Let it Begin with Me) group is here for you. Water Meter Box Clean Out

The City of La Grange would like to inform utility customers that Aqua-Metric Sales Company will be throughout the city cleaning out water meter boxes to prepare for the new water meter installations that are going to occur later this year. The Aqua- Metric work crew(s) can be identified by their Aqua-Metric Sales Company work truck(s) and uniform(s). The City of La Grange expects crews throughout the city starting July 11. Music of the Frogs

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host presentations on July 15 and July 16 at 12 and 2 p.m. exploring the music of “The Frogs,” a 19th-century German-Texan singing group based in La Grange. Learn more about how this society united the local community through musical performances both on and off the Bluff. Regular admission fees apply. Hermann Sons

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their family night fish fry on Saturday, July 15 at 5 p.m. Members are asked to bring desserts or appetizers.There will be a silent auction and members are asked to bring an item for this if they wish.

FWS Corporation Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the board of directors on Monday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Second Chance Drop Off Hours Change Second Chance Emporium has announced new summer hours for the donations drop-off area. Due to the extreme heat, starting Monday, July 17 and running through Monday, Sept. 11, donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary On Tuesday, July 18 meetings of the La Grange Fayette Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5254 andAuxiliary will be held at the VFW Home in La Grange. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. A joint light meal will be at 6 p.m., followed by the VFW Post meeting. New potential members are invited to attend.

Vacation Bible School

First United Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, La Grange invites children “preschool children (potty-trained) ages 3 - 4 years old and Kindergarteners through kids who recently graduated 5th grade, join us for VBS Monday, July 24 - Thursday, July 27 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Wilson & Fischer’s “The Shape of Things” Enjoy the creative voices of Debbie Little Wilson and Mary Fischer. Their exhibition runs through July 29 a the ARTS Ross Gallery, 114 North Live Oak Street in Fayetteville.

Parkinson’s Support Group

For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers.
