Men’s Book Club
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at theAmmannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Marine Corps League Meeting

Parkinson’s Support Group
The Fayette County Area Parkinson’s Support Group will meet on Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Rec Center on Pearl St. in La Grange. This group is open to anyone, but especially those persons who have been diagnosed with this debilitating illness, their caregivers, family members, or anyone who would like to learn more about PD. Fayette County Habitat
Just a reminder that Fayette County Habitat has some recurring volunteer opportunities at Habitat Home Supply, the resale shop located at 825 N. Main St. in Schulenburg, every Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers work accepting and processing donations. This work includes helping unload, test, pricing, and shelving donations. These days are also used to keep the store tidy and prepare for the monthly sale held the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale day volunteers provide customer service and assistance to shoppers. Work includes helping customers locate items, assisting shoppers load their purchases, and other similar tasks. If volunteers are plentiful, processing donations may be included.
Republican Women Meeting
The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. Speaker will be Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values. He will be discussing legislative priorities, such as Save Women’s Sports, gender modification, and pornography in schools. La Grange Show Fund Fun Night The La Grange Show Fund is holding its annual fun night on Jan. 21 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Fair Pavilion Hall at the La Grange Fairgrounds. Ribeyes and sides, (dine in/to go) will be offered for $50 each. There will be a live auction as well as other activities to partake in. If interested, tickets can be purchased at Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange or contact a show fund member.
Food Bank Truck in Waldeck
The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. til 11 a.m. Food distribution will be a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it.
Haw Creek Cemetery Assoc.
The Haw Creek Cemetery Association will meet on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. in the home of Reese and Darla Schmidt located at 3107 FM 954 in Fayetteville.
Dinner And A Movie
The Casino Arts Association Board is hosting Dinner & A Movie Night on Jan. 28, “Monuments Men” is being shown at the Historic Casino Hall with doors opening at 5 p.m. A dinner of fried pork steaks, red cabbage, double-baked potatoes, rolls and peach cobbler will be served before the start of the movie. The total cost for the movie and dinner is $18.The movie is based on a true story! As World War II winds down, a crew of art historians and museum curators race against time to recover works of art stolen by the Nazis. La Grange Noon Lions Club Meeting The La Grange Noon Lions Club meets on Thursdays at noon at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. The guest for Jan. 12 is Scott Schultz of Schultz Texas Properties and Jan. 26 will be Andy Behlen with The Fayette County Record. The meetings are held from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Gifted and Talented Nominations
La Grange ISD is taking nominations for the Gifted and Talented program for the 2023-2024 school year. The Talent Pool and LEAP programs are designed to provide additional challenge and stimulation for academically talented students. Parents, teachers, and community members may nominate students currently enrolled in LGISD in 1st -11th grade to participate in the screening process to determine eligibility for the LEAP program. Nomination forms are available on the La Grange ISD website under “Inside LGISD, Gifted & Talented.” All nominations are due by Feb. 1.
