Legion, Auxiliary

Yoga at the Fayette Public Library will be starting on Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 5:30 until 6 p.m. Yoga will be on the second and last Tuesday of every month. Bring your own mat and join. Other fun new programs at the library that encourage creativity isTinkerTots for ages 18 months to 5 years old on Wednesdays starting Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thinker Thursday for ages 6+ will be held Thursdays starting Jan. 12 from 4-6 p.m. These reoccurring programs are free and open to the public. The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. This being the first meeting of the year, members are encouraged to attend to discuss business matters. New potential members are invited to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. It is a walk up distribution site at the pavilion. Helpers will be available if needed. If you have a cart, please bring it.

There’s more Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Men’s Book Club

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at theAmmannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Marine Corps League Meeting

Sages & Saints Comedy Hour

First United Methodist Church Sages & Saints will meet in the Fellowship Hall onThursday, Jan. 12 from 5-7 p.m.There will be a video “ Comedy Hour” to celebrate the NewYear. Don’t forget to bring a friend. Soup will be provided and you bring sandwiches or dessert.

La Grange Noon Lions Club Meeting The La Grange Noon Lions Club meets on Thursdays from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. The guest for Jan. 12 is Scott Schultz of Schultz Texas Properties and Jan. 26 will be Andy Behlen with The Fayette County Record.

MLK Walk For Freedom

The community is invited to join the MLK Walk for Freedom and unity, signifying our understanding and respect for everyone. The .8mile walk starts at the Fayette County Courthouse at noon on Saturday, Jan. 14. A short program will be held at the Library Gazebo. Refreshments will be served at the N.W. Security and Self Defense Seminar Round Top Family Library will host a Security and Self Defense Seminar with David McCall. Registration is required as class size is limited. St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $5 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Bugle Boy Foundation.

La Grange Little League

Online registration is now open for La Grange Little League at www.lagrangelittleleague.org. Divisions available for boys and girls ages 4-14. Registration closes Jan. 15.

Championship Domino Tournament The 70th Texas State Championship Domino Tournament will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, at the K of C Hall in Hallettsville. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and playing will begin at 9 a.m. sharp. A consolation tournament will be held immediately for the first two setting of losers with two plaques given to the winners of the consolation tournament plus cash. A barbecue chicken dinner will be served in the hall for players and spectators. There will also be plates to go for drive through customers. Short orders and refreshments will be served during the tournament.

AMEN Food Pantry

The AMEN Food Pantry will be closed in observance of MLK holiday Monday, Jan. 16 and will open on Tuesday, Jan. 17 to provide food to clients.

Garbage Holiday Schedule The La Grange City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Waste Management will be working their normal garbage and recycle schedule. If you need additional information, call (979) 968-3127.

VFW Post 5254 & Auxiliary Meetings A light meal and meetings will be held by the La Grange Fayette Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5254 and Auxiliary on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the VFW Home at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. then a light meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the VFW Post meeting. New potential members are invited to attend.

Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner

La Grange Knights of Columbus will hold a drive-thru fundraisr Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the K of C Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. This meal will benefit the La Grange Knights of Columbus to benefit local charities. The meal will consist of a barbceuce pork steak with noodles, broccoli and pinto beans for $12.
