New Year’s Party
The next sale for the Habitat Home Supply will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Habitat Home Supply is located at 825 N. Main St. Schulenburg.
The South Texas Wheel Spinners & Crank Twisters Club will have their annual New Year’s Party on Jan. 7 at the Schulenburg KC Hall. A members only party will be from 4-7 p.m. Doors open to the public at 7 p.m. with music by the Dujka Brothers from 7-11 p.m. For info call Mark at (361) 772-4619.
Bingo For Seniors
Ledbetter Community Center (60 and older plus guests) Sundays Jan. 8 and Feb. 12 Starting at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m $5 per card covers 10 plus games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks available for free-will donation.
Hermann Sons
Hermann Sons Life Shelby will meet on Sunday, Jan. 8 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 5 p.m. Hot sandwiches will be served. Members are asked to bring chips or dessert.
There’s more The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Monday, Jan. 9 at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. The speaker will be Fred Weisser; program will be Pre-Need/Funeral Planning. Members are reminded to bring treats and snacks for the Teacher Appreciation Baskets, which will be filled at the end of the meeting. The baskets will then be delivered to all Fayette County public schools. Members are also reminded to bring their totals for 2022 volunteer hours. All retired public school employees are welcome to attend these meetings, even if retired from another city, county, or state. La Grange Little League
Online registration is now open for La Grange Little League at www.lagrangelittleleague.org. Divisions available for boys and girls ages 4-14. Registration closes Jan. 15.
Chess Club
The Chess Club meets on Mondays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center in Building C. Membership is free and is open to ages 8-adults. Come enjoy casual chess games. Fayette County Habitat
Just a reminder that Fayette County Habitat has some recurring volunteer opportunities at Habitat Home Supply, the resale shop located at 825 N. Main St. in Schulenburg, every Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers work accepting and processing donations. This work includes helping unload, test, pricing, and shelving donations. These days are also used to keep the store tidy and prepare for the monthly sale held the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale day volunteers provide customer service and assistance to shoppers. Work includes helping customers locate items, assisting shoppers load their purchases, and other similar tasks. If volunteers are plentiful, processing donations may be included.
Woman’s Action Guild Meeting
The Woman’s Action Guild will meet at Flatonia United Methodist Church Newman Hall on Monday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
American Legion, Auxiliary No. 102
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. This being the first meeting of the year, members are encouraged to attend to discuss business matters. New potential members are invited to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Food Truck in Fayetteville
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. It is a walk up distribution site at the pavilion. Helpers will be available if needed. If you have a cart, please bring it.
Sages & Saints Comedy Hour
First United Methodist Church Sages & Saints will meet in the Fellowship Hall on Thursday, Jan. 12 from 5-7 p.m. There will be a video “ Comedy Hour” to celebrate the New Year. Don’t forget to bring a friend. Soup will be provided and you bring sandwiches or dessert.
Plum Hermann Sons Life
The Plum Hermann Sons Life January 2023 monthly meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 16 beginning at 4 p.m. Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Please note the date change. A meal and dessert will be provided by the lodge.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $5 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Bugle Boy Foundation.
