LGISD Job Fair

Join La Grange Methodist Church for fellowship on Thursday,

Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. Turkey will be served and you bring the sides. Teresa Stanley-Brown from the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will be speaking about the needs and care of the animals that are waiting for adoption. Bring something for the furry friends and help the local animal shelter. Items needed for dogs include Purina or Pedigree dry adult and puppy food (15-20 lb. bags or smaller), Pedigree canned adult dog fooddog treats, medium or large dog collars. Items needed for cats: 9 lives, Meow Mix, Friskies dry adult cat food (15-20 lb. bags or smaller), cat litter, toys. Supplies needed include paper towels, toilet paper, dishwahser detergent, antibacterial wipe, or Fabuloso.

La Grange ISD is holding a job fair Thursday,

Dec. 8 from 4-6 p.m. at 560 N. Monroe in La Grange for substitutes, teachers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, maintenance, and cafeteria staff. For more information, visit www.lgisd.net.

Dinner & dance

Sacred Heart Catholic Parish will have a fundraiser benefitting the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church rebuilding fund. The Christmas Dinner & Dance will be Saturday, Dec.10 at the Knights of Columbus Community Center in La Grange. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by a social hour, dinner, and dance. Music will be provided by DJ, Krazy Kirb (Kirby). Tickets are $35 each and VIP tables for 8 are $350. Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Widowed Spouses Support Group

Hospice Brazos Valley will host a grief support group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammansville KJT Hall located in Ammansville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support

Loss of a Child Support Group

Parkinson’s Support Group

For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers. Dec. 10 from 12-4 p.m. in Burton. Explore the Burton Christmas Market and more with hand-crafted local items, baked goods, a silent auction and more at the Oliver Whitener-Roy Winkler Pavilions. Enjoy “Junebug’s” delicious turkey stew. Soak up the holiday spirit with fun crafts from 1-3 p.m. Santa will arrive for festive photos. Christmas at Winedale will be held on Saturday,

Dec. 10 from noon to 4 p.m. There will be crafts and folklife demonstrations, music and theater performances, food and beverages, and more. This event is free.

Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, located at 250 West Fairground Rd. in La Grange, will have an open house on Saturday,

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday,

Dec. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $5 and a sausage link is $7. This event is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Bingo for Seniors

The Ledbetter Community Center will have bingo for 60 and older plus guests on Sunday,

Dec. 11 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. and $5 card covers 10 plus games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a free will donation. The money collected is used for purchase of prizes and other expenses. Any questions, call (979) 249-2175.

Hermann Sons Life Shelby

Hermann Sons Life Shelby will meet on Sunday,

Dec. 11 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 4 p.m. for a Christmas party and a short business meeting where 50, 60 and 70-year membership pin recipients will be recognized. The lodge will furnish a ham with members bringing a side dish or dessert.
