Veterans Party
La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-20 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve to guarantee your order before Nov. 16 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 between 4 to 6 p.m.
The annual Veterans Party sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America Schulenburg Chapter 870 will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Ammannsville Hall with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and drawing at 7 p.m. Enjoy beef stew and chicken noodle soup. A free will donation accepted.
Food Truck
Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. The food truck is in Waldeck on the third Saturday of every month, 10 until 11 a.m. The one for December is the 17.
The annual Community Thanksgiving Worship Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. at the Historic Casino Hall. The service is put on by the La Grange Ministerial Alliance. A collection will be taken to support the Good Shepherd Fund which goes to help people who are not from the area who may need a place to stay or a bus ticket to Houston or Austin. The alliance will also be collecting canned goods for AMEN Food Pantry. The speaker this year will be Father Brian Phillips from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Other local pastors and ministers will be participating in the worship. Everyone is invited.
Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner
The Men’s Club, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool is having a Fundraiser benefiting the Hostyn Rebuilding fund. It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20. Drive Thru only. Plates will be picked up at 800 North Franklin Parking lot/BBQ Pavilion. Tickets are $15 and meal is barbecue pork steak, homemade noodles, pinto beans and homemade bread. Tickets are available at La Grange Chevron, Lukas Bakery, the Lutheran Church office, and any Men’s Club member (979) 968-3938.
Thanksgiving Service
The Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance Community Service of Thanksgiving will be held Sunday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Pamela Sattiewhite of Steven’s Chapel United Methodist Church will preach. A meal follows worship. Please bring a dessert to share.
Surviving The Holidays
Immanuel Lutheran Church of Giddings is sponsoring a special event called “Surviving the Holidays” for anyone grieving the death of a loved one, especially during the holiday season. Fayette Water Supply Corp.
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a Meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Apple Strudel Sale
