Senior Citizens
Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. The lodge will furnish barbecue chicken and baked potatoes. Members are asked to bring a side dish and a dessert.
The La Grange Senior Citizens Annual Meeting/Luncheon will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street in La Grange, on Thursday, Nov. 3 Registration will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10:30 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by a program presented by the Aging & Disability Center on fall prevention and remaining in your own home as long as possible. Lunch consisting of roast beef, potatoes and gravy with sides will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Turkey & Dressing
The SJST Lodge No. 1-Fayetteville will have a drive-thru turkey and dressing with all the trimmings fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the SPJST Hall in Fayetteville. Tickets are $15. Proceeds to benefit future restorations to the historic lodge hall. Ed Janecka will share some of his favorite stories from his and his wife’s new book, Dubina, A Place of Freedom and Hope, in a program sponsored by the Fayette Public Library, Museum, and Archives in the library meeting room, 855 S. The Great Gatsby Performance
Fayette County Community Theatre will present The Great Gatsby at the Pavilion on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (the Round Up Hall) located at 250 W. Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange. Performances will be Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online at faycotheatre.com or at the box office at 120 S. Hay Insurance Group Meeting
The Fayette County Hay Insurance Group Precinct No. 2 annual meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. Burgers will be provided.
RT-Carmine ISD Gifted & Talented
Round Top-Carmine Independent School District requests nominations for Gifted/Talented students in Kindergarten. Nominations will be accepted from RTC staff, parents, and community members. The state defines a gifted and talented student as “a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment. They should also “exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area, possess an unusual capacity for leadership, or excel in a specific academic field.” To request a nomination form, please contact Susan Leppard or Amy Weinert at (979) 249-3200. Bluebonnet Lions Cheeseballs
The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club is once again taking preorders for their famous Cheeseballs. Cheeseballs will be $12 each and will be made Nov. 12 at First United Methodist Church-Fellowship Hall, 1215 N. Von Minden. Pick up from 10-11:30 a.m. at the drive through outside the fellowship hall. Remember, they freeze well and taste great. Proceeds benefit local charities as well as Lions International.
