The Central Texas Food truck will be in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a drive-thru distribution.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Fayette Public Library is partnering with Jenny Janda to offer a Mindful Meditation program for teens on the second Tuesday of every month from 4:30-5 p.m. in the meeting room. This free program will cover meditation, movement, and breathing exercises to help relieve stress. For more information, contact the Fayette Public Library at (979) 968-3765.

The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. The Auxiliary members are reminded that membership dues are now due and may be paid at the meeting. Several business items are on the agenda for discussion, member attendance is encouraged. The Post and the Auxiliary are inviting new potential members to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

The third edition in a series of “Breaking The Silence,” a movie interviewing local veterans about their service in Vietnam will be presented at The Lyric Theater in Flatonia on Sat. Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. This movie is produced by Joe Janecka. Admission is free.

There’s more Herb Society of America Pioneer Unit October meeting “Butterflies as Pollinators” with speaker Lauren Simpson, St. Julian’s Crossing Wildlife Habitat, will be held Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Brenham Presbyterian Church located at 900 S. A Grief Support Group for anyone experiencing grief or loss will meet on Thursdays starting Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at Flatonia United Methodist Church located at 403 E. Main St. in Flatonia. If you have any questions or need directions, call Judy at (512) 520-7599.

The Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association will be holding their 2nd Annual Fundraiser Oct. 14-15 at the SPJST Ball Park in Fayetteville. Friday, Oct. 14, BBQ Cook-Off opens for arrival. Chef’s Choice, Margarita Contest, Gun Raffle and Live Auction will take place that evening. Saturday, Oct. 15, there will a Bloody Mary Contest, Corn Hole Tournament, Goat Roping, 50/50 raffle and Cook-Off winners will be announced. The concession stand will be open with hamburgers, drinks and much more (BYOB). A raffle with the top prize being a $1,000 Visa card will also be held. First Baptist Church of La Grange, located at 5000 St. Hwy. 71 West, will have a free event Saturday, Oct. 15 beginning at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the church. Central Texas Food Bank

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. The food truck is in Waldeck on the third Saturday of every month, 10 to 11 a.m.The next scheduled dates are Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.

Rosary Rally at Gazebo

Hostyn Catholic Daughters No. 2282 will sponsor a Rosary Rally at the rose garden gazebo on Saturday, Oct. 15 at noon. All are invited to participate. Please come early to register. You may bring a bottle of water for yourself.

La Grange VFD Fish Fry

The 37th annual La Grange Volunteer Fire Department fund raiser benefit fish fry will be held Sunday, Oct. 16 beginning at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal is drive-thru only with a free will donation. Proceeds to help purchase new equipment.

Ellinger Hermann Sons Life

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life will be meeting at the Ellinger Fire Station on Monday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.

Winedale Online Talk

On Tuesday, Oct. 18 at noon, Dr. Ken Hafertepe will discuss the painted churches of Texas. This beautifully illustrated talk will throw new light on the famous “painted churches of Texas” most of which were built between 1890 and 1920. Schulenburg Class of 1960 Reunion

The Schulenburg High School Class of 1960 will hold a reunion on Thursday, Oct. 20 at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia. The reunion will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be ordered from the menu. Historic Walking Tour

To celebrate Historic Preservation, the La Grange Main Street & Visitors Bureau will host a Historic Walking Tour of the downtown Square. Learn about the fascinating history of these historic buildings and the businesses that used to be housed in them. Led by County Historic Commission Chair and Main Street Board member Bobbie Nash, the Historic Walking Tour will be Saturday, Oct. 22 and depart at 10 a.m. with a breakfast provided beforehand at 9:30 a.m. Tours will meet at the Historic Casino Hall, 254 N. Kindergarten Gifted and Talented

La Grange ISD is taking Kindergarten nominations for the Gifted and Talented program for the 2022-2023 school year. The Talent Pool/LEAP programs are designed to provide additional challenge and stimulation for academically talented students. Parents, teachers, and community members may nominate students currently enrolled in the LGISD Kindergarten program. All nominations are due by Nov. 7.
