The 1960 graduating class of La Grange High School will have a belated 60th (actual 62nd) reunion on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange. Everyone is invited for an evening of dining, fellowship and dancing hosted by the Rutersville Hermann Sons Life Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 15 beginning at 5 p.m until sold out. Dine in or to go barbecue chicken meal plates are $12. Music will be provided by The Back Porch Boys Band and B.Y.O.B is welcome. Enjoy a cake walk and an auction. The 4th annual Swing and Blast presented by Cavender Auto Country will be held Oct. 18 at The Big Easy Ranch located at 2400 Brunes Mill Rd. in Columbus. The golf tournament and clay shoot is a fundraiser for The Boys and Girls Clubs of Champion Valley.

To celebrate Historic Preservation, the La Grange Main Street & Visitors Bureau will host a Historic Walking Tour of the downtown Square. Learn about the fascinating history of these historic buildings and the businesses that used to be housed in them. Led by County Historic Commission Chair and Main Street Board member Bobbie Nash, the Historic Walking Tour will be Saturday, Oct. 22 and depart at 10 a.m. with a breakfast provided beforehand at 9:30 a.m. Tours will meet at the Historic Casino Hall, 254 N. Washington St. and last approximately two hours. Tours are free and open to the public. Reserve your space on the tour by calling (979) 968-3017.

Harvest Carnival in Fayetteville

The Fayetteville PTC will be holding their Harvest Carnival on Friday, Oct. 28 from 4:30-8 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church Pavilion located at 205 Bell Street in Fayetteville. There will be games, a bucket raffle, cake walk, prize wheel, gift card wheel and raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold by FISD students. They are $10 for one ticket. Beef stew, chili, hot dogs nachos, Frito pie and drinks will be available. You will be able to dine in the hall, under the pavilion or take food to go. Come dressed in your costume for a festive time. The Harvest Carnival is the largest fundraiser for the PTC. It’s a fun night for FISD and the community.
