The La Grange High School Class of 1965 will hold its 57th year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 1. The event will be held at the Prairie Valley Dining Hall, located at 2510 Williams Road in West Point. Former classmates interested in attending the event are asked to send their checks made payable to Mary Jane Henning/Class of 1965; and mail to her at 790 South College, La Grange, TX 78945.

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. The meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. with Beekeeping 101 for new beekeepers. A potluck dinner will follow at 5:30 p.m. and guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Following dinner will be club business and possible guest speaker. Regular meetings are the first Saturday of even-numbered months (October, December, etc.). If you’d like to join FaycoBeeks, membership is $25/year (individual or family). Membership is not required to attend the meeting. FaycoBeeks especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. More information on FaycoBeeks can be found at faycobeeks.org.

Habitat Home Supply will be open to shoppers Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. at 825 N. Main St. in Schulenburg. Tacos will be available for breakfast and lunch.

Oct. 4 from noon until 1 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension Office located at 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange. Guest speaker is Mr. Tony Sauerhoff, Deputy CISO and State Cybersecurity Coordinator at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). DIR is a state agency that serves as a liaison between tech vendors and Government organizations to assist with IT services and solutions. They are the rulemaking entity for IT Modernization and Cybersecurity bills that pass. For information contact the La Grange Chamber.

Applications are now being accepted for the Round Top Festival Institute Volunteer and Docent Program beginning Tuesday, Oct. 4, on the historic Festival Hill campus in Round Top. Participation is required in a five unit course that teaches the history of the Round Top Festival Institute and significant features of the magnificent Festival Concert Hall and campus buildings. This class is geared to be fun, friendly and a great way to meet new and interesting people in your community. Docent training classes are held every two weeks on Tuesday at 10 a.m. until 3 p..m led by Library and Museum Collections Curator Lamar Lentz. The next monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6, will be held in conjunction with the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Night Out at the Carmine Fire Station beginning at 6 p.m. Post members, with assistance from members of the local 4H, will be conducting a Flag Disposal Ceremony during the event in accordance with procedures of the American Legion. All members of the post and the auxiliary are requested to attend and to participate in this ceremony.

Private Applicators Training Announced

A private applicators license is required by the state, in order to purchase restricted use pesticides. In order to obtain a license, it is mandatory to attend a pesticide applicator training and pass a 100-question test. This course will teach participants proper procedures for applying pesticides. This is the training only. Testing procedures will be explained during the training. A pesticide applicator training has been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7. The training will be held at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the program beginning promptly at 8 a.m. The cost of the program is $50 per person and you must pre-register at the Fayette County Extension Office by Oct. 4. The registration fee will cover the study manual, handouts, and refreshments. Please bring a pen and/or pencil and a simple calculator to aid with the training. 64th Woppenkamp Family Reunion

The 64th Woppenkamp Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at Rohde Bait Shop, 3214 W. Hwy. 159, Fayetteville. Barbecue lunch with tea $13. Bring dessert or appetizer, and bingo prize. Beer is provided. RSVP (512) 970-3290 or ddgest@hotmail.com.

Spacek Family Reunion

Descendants of F. J. Spacek (Fayetteville), Jan Spacek (Warrenton) and Josef Spacek (La Grange) will meet on Sunday, Oct. 9 for their annual family reunion to be held at SPJST Lodge 1 in Fayetteville. A catered meal will be served.

LHS Sophomore Class Dinner

The La Grange High School sophomore class dinner is Oct. 14 beginning at 4:30 util 6 p.m. at the La Grange High School. A chicken fried pork cutlet, mac and cheese, corn, green beans, a roll and peach cobbler will be served. Tickets are $12. Purchase tickets online at the school website, or each sophomore will have tickets to sell. Ticket sales will end on Oct. 7.
