Retired Teachers
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’Association will meet on Monday, Sept. 12, at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church located at 1215Von Minden in La Grange. The social time will begin at 1:30 p.m. with an ice cream social hosted by the Executive Board. The business meeting will begin at 2 p.m. followed by Bunko. All retired public school employees are welcome to attend these meetings, even if retired from another city, county, or state. Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.
Weimar Car Show
The Rotary Club of Weimar is hosting a car show Saturday, Sept. 17 at Cavender Auto Country located at 1700 I-10 in Weimar. Enjoy live music by Southbound 955, bounce house, food vendors and beer stand. The event kicks off 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Proceeds benefit Rotary of Weimar.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on (Third Wednesday of the Month) at 7 p.m. at the Ammansville KJT Hall located inAmmansville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
The Smith-McMillan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a ringing of the bells ceremony in honor of Constitution Week on Saturday, Sept. 17 on the Fayette County Courthouse lawn in La Grange. The ceremony will begin at 2:45 p.m. with a reading of the Constitution Week proclamation which was signed by County Judge Joe Weber. DAR members will share some interesting facts about the Constitution. Everyone may join in reciting the preamble to the Constitution. Then at 3 p.m., the group will ring bells for one minute in conjunction with similar ceremonies taking place across the nation. Feel free to bring your own bell and to wear red, white and blue. Constitution Week is Sept. 18-24.
S.H.O.C.K. (Sacred Heart Organization of Catholic Kids) will be having a car wash for a new large screen SmartTV in the Parish Center. The car wash will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish Center on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. until approximately noon. It is free will donation. Come and drop off your car or come and wait. Chairs and cold water in the shade will be available for those waiting for their vehicle.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will hold their parish picnic on Sunday, Sept. 18. Mass is at 10 a.m. A meal of fried chicken and beef stew dinner will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. Plates are $12. Drive-thru plates to go will be available. Music by Ken Brothers from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. A free dance with the Czech Wine Stompers from 2-7 p.m. Enjoy a cake walk, ring toss, plant walk, train ride, ball throw, and bingo, plus the auction begins at 1 p.m.
FWS Corporation Directors Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
VFW Post 5254, Auxiliary Meetings
A light meal, meetings, and a program will be held by La Grange Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at theVFW Home in La Grange. Meeting time for theVFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. then a joint POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony and a meal will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the VFW Post meeting.
Swiss Alp Farm Bureau
The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau will meet for a pot luck meal and a business meeting on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau Building. Kelsey Svetlik, LMT, will be the guest speaker discussing health and fitness. Bring a friend and a dish to share for good food and fellowship.
Three Generations of Change
On Sept. 21 at noon, Dr. Tom Alter will discuss three generations of German immigrants in Texas from the 1850s to 1940s to illuminate how Texas-based labor movements and populist ideas changed the nation’s course at a pivotal time in its history. La Grange Garden Club
The La Grange Garden Club will resume its regular monthly meetings at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 East Pearl St. in La Grange. There will be a meet and greet session with light refreshments served. Everyone is invited to attend, especially members, so bring a friend and help plan activities and informative programs for the fall and spring seasons. Chicken Fried Steak Drive-Thru
Fayette County Farm Bureau is having a chicken fried steak drive thru dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 28 beginning at 4 -6 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables and a roll will be served. Plates are $12 and tickets are available at the Fayette County Farm Bureau office at 411 E. Colorado St. in La Grange. A free will donation for baked goods will be on site.
RT-C Farm Bureau Family Night
RT-C Farm Bureau family night will meet Friday, Sept. 30 at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. Social hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m. and meeting from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and meal to follow.
