The Camp Shakespeare performances of Macbeth on July 15, 16, and 17 have been canceled due to COVID.
Community Sale
The Rotary Club of La Grange will be hosting a community garage sale at the Historic Casino Hall benefiting La Grange Police Officer Curtis Zwahr. Officer Zwahr lost his young wife soon after giving birth to their premi-son born three months early. Officer Zwahr’s son is still in the NICU. This community garage sale will help defray the medical bills for both his wife and infant son. Monies will also help cover funeral costs. $5 early bird access July 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. Free admission July 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop off your gently used clothes, shoes, books, toys, electronics, furniture, dishes, tools, etc. to the Historic Casino Hall located at 254 N. Jefferson Street from July 15-22.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, July 16 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advized to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.
Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Jefferson in La Grange. For more information, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913. You must RSVP so the groups can be small.

Hospice Brazos Valley will host an Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Loss of a Child Support Group
A support and education group for a parent or grandparent who is grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Hospice Brazos Valley located at 1048 N. Verlene Kuntschik Benefit
In memory of Verlene Kuntschik, and to provide assistance to the Hrachovy-Kuntschik families, a benefit will be held at the Mullins Prairie Store on Sunday, July 17 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. A pork steak meal will be served for $12. Annual Firemen’s Fundraiser
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual Firemen’s Fundraiser dinner of fried chicken on Sunday, July 17 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until sold out at the Carmine Hall. Desserts will be available. Donations will be accepted as payment for meal.
LG Varsity Football Season Tickets
La Grange Leopard Varsity Football reserved season ticket sales for 2022 varsity football reserved season ticket holders from the 2021 season may purchase reserved tickets at the La Grange ISD Administration Building, 560 N. Monroe, beginning July 18 through July 28, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of each season ticket is $50. Current reserved season tickets that are not claimed during this window will be released for sale to the public. Reserved season tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m at the La Grange ISD Administration Building. Chair back reserved seating is available for a one-time fee of $250 plus the cost of the season ticket, with every season thereafter being the cost of the season ticket only. Bench back reserved seats are available for $50 each. General admission football and all home sporting event tickets will be sold online only at www.Hometown. com.

Drive-Thru Barbecue Chicken
A drive-thru dinner benefitting the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will be held Thursday, July 21 beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the La Grange KC Community Center. The cost is $12/plate for ½ barbecue chicken, buttered potatoes, green beans, and corn. Tickets are available at the animal shelter located at 240 Svoboda Lane and Fayette Savings Bank. If you’re interested in buying tickets, there will be several volunteers out and about selling tickets. Republican Women Special Meeting
Fayette County Republican Women are hosting a special meeting Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange. The guest speaker will be Treniss Evans, a Texas man with close ties to the Jan. 6 cases. Frisch Auf! will have a dinner buffet available to all attendees (Dutch treat). Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 870 will meet July 20 always the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Open Mic Night
Fayette County Community Theatre is continuing Open Mic Nights every third Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the FCCT Box Office and Studio at 120 S. Washington St., La Grange. The next one is July 21. Bring your musical, comedic, or dramatic talent to share, or enjoy the talents of others.
Curbside Bulk Trash Pickup
The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 23 as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items that are difficult for you to take to our drop off during our semiannual cleanup. Republic Services will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by 5 p.m. on Friday. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from the entire city. Bulk items include: stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves,water heaters, washing machines/dryers, barbeques, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture. Bulk items not accepted: tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bath tubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/bricks/rocks, construction debris, televisions/computer monitors, motor oil or used filters. Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life Rutersville is having their member family fun night on Saturday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m. A fried fish meal will be served and a free will donation is appreciated. Members are asked to bring snacks or desserts. Their is also a silent auction and members are asked to bring items for the auction.
