Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their annual member appreciation fish fry on Saturday, July 11 at the lodge hall. This members-only event begins at 5 p.m. with a social, and the meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. A silent auction will be held and members are encouraged to bring appetizers and desserts.

St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ Saturday, July 11, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H.E.B. A half chicken $6 and sausage link $7, drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of The Texas Ramp Project.

Bingo in Ledbetter

Bingo for seniors 60 and older plus guests will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, July 12 from 2- 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for freewill donation. This is a non-profit community event for entertainment. Money collected will be used for purchase of prizes and other expenses.

Live Music Monday

Enjoy live music on Monday, July 13 at the Lee County Senior Center located at 161 West Austin St. in Giddings from 6-7:30 p.m. by Curtis Krause and Gary Durrenberger. For more information, call (979) 542-5091. Plenty of parking in the back lot. Donations are voluntary and will go directly to support and reward talented performers.

CASA Casino Sock Hop

Get ready to eat, drink, play, and win all while supporting children in our community who need a voice to advocate for them during the CASA Casino Sock Hop on Saturday, July 18 from 5:30-10:30 p.m. at the Smithville Recreation Center located at 106 Royston St. in Smithville. Enjoy $10,000 in game chips, sock hop diner-themed dinner from Chabot Catering, sundae bar sponsored by BlueBell, popcorn donated by Film Alley, beer and wine all included with a ticket purchase. Cost is $85/person or two for $150. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event at 7 p.m. for $65, but will not include the dinner portion of the evening. Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars

St. Paul Lutheran Church of La Grange and Shared Lutheran Ministries of Fayette County will host Dinner and Dancing Under the Stars, a fundraiser benefiting Lutherhill Ministries on Saturday, July 18 with a fried chicken and sausage meal starting at 5 p.m. at the Hermann Sons Life Hall, Rutersville, located at 5830 Hwy. 159 in La Grange. 70th Heinsohn Family Reunion

A reunion of the descendants of Diedrich and Anna Marie Rodfeld Heinsohn will be held Sunday, July 19, at the City of La Grange VFW Post 5254, 500 Veterans Memorial Drive, La-Grange, with registration beginning at 11:45 a.m. A fried chicken meal, catered by Oakridge Smokehouse will be served at noon. Plates cost $14 each for adults, $7 for 10 years and younger. Contact Hollie Heinsohn at (361) 655-3622 to prepay if money has not been sent via USPS. Optional to bring a dessert and silent auction items. To mark the 70th Reunion, Rox Ann Johnson, our historian, will present a 45 minute program and slideshow about the early Heinsohn ancestors a preview of the Heinsohn family book she is writing. Prizes will be given including a table centerpiece made from a log of the original log cabin built about 1867 owned by Wilhelm and Meta Harfst Heinsohn in Colorado County.

Vacation Bible School in Ledbetter Ledbetter’s Soul Café Church presents this summer’s wildest VBS yet, “Rainforest Falls.” Come with us while we explore the nature of God. VBS takes place at Soul Café Church located at 426 Prospect Rd in Ledbetter July 20-22 beginning at 5 p.m. each night until 8 p.m. Join for three nights of fun, faith and adventure as we discover the amazing nature of God. La Grange Chamber Lunch & Learn The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn Series will have a Funeral Pre-Planning presentation from Fayette Memorial Funeral Home at The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center 250 W. La Grange Leopards Football Season Excitement is building as the La Grange Leopards prepare for another thrilling football season. Reserved seat season tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday, July 27 through Friday, Aug. 7. Tickets not claimed from last year will go on sale to the public starting Monday, Aug. 10. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats early to cheer on the Leopards all season long. Mica-Mares Family Reunion

The annual Mica-Mares Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Flatonia Civic Center from 10:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. Bring a covered dish to share for the meal and donate an item for our silent auction.

Community Theatre Presentation Join Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT)on July 31, Aug. 1 or Aug. 2 for Edith Stein by Arthur Giron. Stein was a Jewish intellectual who converted to Roman Catholicism, joined a Carmelite nunnery and was martyred at Auschwitz. She was subsequently beatified by Pope John Paul II. This haunting and passionate drama will include dinner on Friday and Saturday and a show only matinee on Sunday. Tickets are available at www. faycotheatre.com.
