Real Deal Trail Ride Can’t Find Location After Issues

The Real Deal Family Reunion Trail Ride will not take place in Fayette County this year, or anywhere else for that matter.

The event took place the last two years on private property near Nechanitz, and it was scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 26. Organizers announced on Facebook Monday that they were unable to secure a location.

Last year’s Real Deal Trail Ride brought a crowd of approximately 7,000 people and ended with a homicide. Andrew Webb Jr., a 19-year-old from Houston, was shot in an altercation on the Nechanitz property in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. He died hours later at a hospital. Now a year later, no one has yet been charged with his murder.

The day leading up to the shooting kept first responders on their toes. Earlier that day, a double-decker party wagon collapsed, injuring seven people.

Prior to last year’s event, Fayette County established a mass gathering policy in response to problems with the 2024 trail ride. After the 2024 event, neighbors in Nechanitz complained of traffic congestion, loud music and litter around the property. In response, the County implemented a permit process and required event organizers to coordinate with local officials on traffic plans, public safety and sanitation. Those preparations failed to prevent the problems at last year’s event.

In a Facebook Live video on Monday, Real Deal President Ronald said he negotiated a location but was unable to secure a mass gathering permit from public officials in that county.

Addison did not say where the site was located, but it wasn’t in Fayette County. Fayette County Permitting Official Amber Hielscher said no one from the Real Deal organization has contacted her office about a mass gathering here.

Addison said his group would hold a dance this year instead, at a venue to be announced.
