Primary Runoff Results
Primary runoff elections took place on Tuesday, May 28.
The turnout in Fayette County was low. Only 697 voters cast ballots in the election, amounting to a 3.87 percent voter turnout.
There were only two down-ballot races up for grabs. On the Republican side, incumbent Tom Maynard faced Mary Bone to represent District 10 on the State Board of Education. Maynard won statewide 51.82 percent of the vote. He performed slightly better in Fayette County, winning with 55.29 percent of the vote here.
On the Democratic ballot, Edward Smith faced Maggie Ellis for the Place Two judicial seat on the Third Court of Appeals. Ellis won the statewide primary with 64.95 percent of the vote. Fayette County Democrats voted overwhelmingly for Ellis, who collected 94.79 percent of the vote here.
