Poppy Program A Success

    Poppy Program A Success

The Poppy Program has been a cornerstone of the American Legion Auxiliary for close to a century. Each year members of the American Legion Family distribute poppies with a request that the person receiving the flower make a donation to support our veterans with medical or financial needs in our communities. In observance of Veterans Day, the local American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102 of La Grange were volunteering and distributing poppies on Thursday, Nov. 10. Pictured are Loretta Brugger, Stacy Ryza and Gladys Polasek. Other Auxiliary members who volunteered at various business locations included, Jo Ann Mueller, Mary Baca, Carolyn Prause, Twila Thurman, Phyllis Chavarria, Elaine Matthys, Carol Janecka, Peggy Pfeiffer and Veteran Odis Pfeiffer, Mary Gray and Veteran Richard Gray, Paula Thompson and Veteran John Thompson. All together $2,236.75 was donated. Part of these proceeds will be used for some local veterans this Christmas Season. The Unit would like to thank all the businesses who allowed us to pass out poppies at their locations.
