The annual Pitman Cemetery Day is coming around again. It is always the first Sunday in May, this year it is on May 7 with services beginning at 2:30 p.m. This gathering has been going on for many years and is a time for scattered family members to come and pay respect and to remember those who have passed on before. People come from near and far to see others they only get to see once a year, walk through the historic cemetery and reminisce of those who are no longer with us.

The cemetery is always filled with new flowers decorating the graves and this year there will be lots of green grass and mud. When coming out be sure to watch where you park, so not to get stuck. There are stories from many years ago when lots of people got stuck and had to be pulled out.

Fire Department Fundraiser Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department held its fundraiser on Saturday and it was a beautiful sunny day for the affair. There was a nice turnout for potluck meal and auction fundraiser. The department had cleaned up the bays and had set up tables for everyone to enjoy their meals. They were able to raise lots of money for purchase of new rescue equipment and towards the maintenance of the equipment they have.

AirEvac was also there showing off their air ambulance. Everyone got a chance to look inside and see what the interior of the helicopter looked like. There were many from the Flatonia business community there to support the fire department.

Weather

This week once again we saw rain and some strong winds come through the area. The last batch on Wednesday night/Thursday morning brought about a half inch of rain with it. No complaints since last year we were so very dry. The pastures are green and muddy and this is great in preparation for the summer season.
