Society Holds Meeting

The Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America last met on July 13, with the presentation “Bee a Friend to Our Pollinators.” Members learned interesting facts about bees from Karl Cottrell, President of the Central Texas Beekeepers Association. Mr. Cottrell used slides to illustrate his talk and provided a demonstration hive where those in attendance could view the bees up close. It was fascinating to see the queen bee in action.

After the August break, the unit will meet on Sept. 14, at the Brenham Presbyterian Church located at 900 South Jackson St. at 9:30 a.m. Robert Martinez of the Brazos Valley Master Gardeners will speak about Texas Heirloom Bulbs. All interested persons are invited to attend the Pioneer Unit meetings.
