One – of Many – Hurdles Cleared Toward A Potential La Grange Hospital Reopening
The St. Mark’s Medical Center Board approved a Consent Resolution Tuesday morning authorizing “Progressive Health Group (PHG) to seek input and guidance from state and federal regulatory agencies regarding the reinstatement or application for the Licenses solely for the purpose of reopening the Hospital.”
PHG is the Mississippibased hospital group interested in reopening the La Grange hospital.
According to St. Mark’s board chair Dudley Piland Tuesday’s vote, “is a very important step in PHG’s efforts to reopen St. Mark’s.”
In Tuesday’s edition of the newspaper we mischaracterized the time frame for a potential hospital reopening.
Though there was urgency (within 30 days of closure) on the part of the hospital board to approve PHG’s authority to act on behalf of St. Mark’s with State and Federal entities to get the licenses and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) number reinstated, the actual reopening of the hospital would take much longer.
“It will likely take months for PHG to provide all of the required information for Lument (the mortgage holder) to submit it to HUD (Housing and Urband Development) for approval,” Piland said. “I would be impressed if all of that can take place before the first quarter of 2024.”
