Officers Arrest Suspects For Theft of Mail in LG
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Tuesday morning May 30, around 12:30 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call on a suspicious blue truck on U.S. Hwy. 77 just north of La Grange.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher and Deputy Holly Smith located a blue truck matching the description and stopped the truck. The occupants were identified as 25-year-old Damon William Stewart of Houston and 41-year-old Amanda Jean Campos of Weimar. During the Investigation a pat down search for weapons of Stewart was conducted and a “cake” Vape pen was located on his person which contained THC.
Aprobable cause search of the truck revealed a methamphetamine pipe which Stewart admitted was his. Meagher and Smith also located a large amount of mail which contained different names and addresses from the area.
It is believed both subjects were taking mail from multiple locations which included Chapparal Rd., Post Oak Rd., Rocky Acres Ln., FM 153, and N. Washington St. in La Grange. Over 15 different addresses were located on the mail collected out of the truck.
Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center charged with Theft of Mail, a State Jail Felony.
