New Restrooms in Round Top

The Town of Round Top began a project to build new restrooms on the Town Square last week. Workers finished demolition of the old restrooms on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

“The new restrooms will be about twice the size of the old ones,” said Round Top Mayor Mark Massey. “The new structure will mimic our town hall building.”

The new restrooms will also be compliant with the Americans with Disability Act, and they will include additional storage, which the old restroomed lacked. “The old restrooms served their purpose for many years,” Massey said. “But the town square has become more popular with different activities. It’s a gathering point. Those old restrooms could not keep up.”

Massey said the Town hopes to complete the restroom project in time for the annual July 4 celebration. They will still be under construction during the Spring Antiques Show. Massey said the Town will place portable restrooms on the Square during the Show.

In addition, Massey said the Town recently finished installation of 39 new cast iron lamp posts with new street signage. The lamp posts will also include flower baskets that will be updated seasonally.

“This is all part of a beautification project in keeping with our village and small-town feel,” Massey said.
