New Health and Human Services Building Rises on the Bluff

The building going up at 137 State Hwy. 92 Spur in La Grange will be the new office for Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The building is located across the street from Monument Hill Nursing Center.

HHSC hasn’t had an office in La Grange since vacating their office on Main Street several months ago. HHSC Spokesperson Thomas Vasquez said the new office is expected to open in December.

In the meantime, folks needing services from HHSC can visit any of their nearby offices including the one in Giddings at 2020 E. N. Main St., in Bastrop at 3809 E. Loop 150 or Columbus at 1220 Bowie St.

Additionally, anyone who needs immediate assistance can contact 2-1-1 Texas Information and Referral Network (TIRN) for information and referrals to governmental and local community social services, which include food pantries.
