New Business ‘Cardinals’ Ground’ in Town; Emerson Parry Wins at County Fair
Fayetteville residents will soon reap the benefits of a business venture being established from the ground up. Rice and Paula Lummis were married last November in their beautiful family home on Rusk St. After three years in Houston the couple relocated to the property full-time in February and have established a “market garden,” a food plot the size of a tennis court. They plan to grow food for sale to the local community.
“We’ve always been drawn to this area and are enjoying getting to know people in town. We’re also very excited to be new business members of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce,” stated Paula. “Rice and I have been growing food for ourselves for several years now and in 2024 we will be ready to open our doors to offer fruits and vegetables and other services to the community and visitors.”
Their venture, “Cardinals’ Ground,” will provide fresh produce right here in town for a monthly subscription starting next March. “Once every two weeks, we will greet customers while they pick up their fresh, seasonal selections and learn how to grow their own food at home. We really love the idea of building community around healthy food choices,” stated Rice. Rice works in business operations and risk management for a start-up energy tech company.
