Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday afternoon around 11 a.m. Sgt. Randy Thumann received information from DPS Trooper Landon Rabun in reference to a possible murder suspect traveling I-10 eats-bound in Fayette County. Thumann immediately notified Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Westside HIDTA task force, and the Regional SRT team. All agencies secured a perimeter along I-10 and began searching businesses within the perimeter. Sgt. Thumann located and confirmed the suspect’s vehicle parked in the AT&T store parking lot in Columbus.

Thumann observed the suspect in the store standing at the door. Lt. Matt Walls arrived on the scene and the suspect was given verbal commands and taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as 38 yr. old Ricardo Quinones. Also assisting at the scene was the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office as the suspect was transported to the Colorado County Jail and the suspect’s vehicle and all evidence was also released to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.
